Wow as much as i hate crafting... this is pretty pathetic!

Reason crafting sucks? Because you have to sit in an instance to do it. I like crafted in EQ1 why? Because i could randomly loot my spiderling silks and craft them on the go with my handy dandy tailoring kit!!. I mean anytime ive decided hey im going to go craft. I got to the door of the instance and all that enthusiasm for crafting just shot out my ass. I zone in and wow im already bord. didnt make it fast the door and im bord. Gimmy my tailoring kits so i can do it while im running from EFP to the portle in Commonlands and waiting 5min for the portle to go up. DAMN IT

I can understand how portability can work for a sewing kit with tailoring.

But please tell me how, from a roleplay or any other perspective, you are going to make a pocket forge.

And if you just do this for some crafts and not others, you know what will happen. The forge users will scream that they've been screwed.

What they are doing in GU 28 is going with outside workstations, so at least you don't need to zone into instances to craft. I think that's a start.

No no... a sewing kit is used for repairing clothes, not for weaving them from scratch... you need a full loom to do that in any reasonable time. And good luck scribing a spell on your knee or clipboard when perfection is mandated (at least in any fantasy environment I've ever observed).

The only way I see portable kits fitting the bill is by allowing them to only permit reduced quality levels. That way you can have your Adept 3's on the go, but you won't get the rare dust byproduct. etc. etc.

Crafters are all but useless, I think I bought a total of 10 things from crafters in tier 7. They should illiminate crafting and have goblins make stuff for people after killing named mobs in labs. Each named could pop a friendly goblin crafter to do your bidding.
