It was the hardest and least desireable of all the paths then in game, and thus the one I expected to be able to have for my own after I mastered it.

I will always choose the hardest path out of every possible alternative, because it will usually result in the greatest long term benefit.

One other thing also, before the entire system of interdependence was nerfed and EQ2 tradeskills became "Crafting with Barney", the crafting community was the strongest and most tightly knit of all the communities in game on most servers. At that time, the main server channel in use by everyone was the crafting channel. That all died after the beginning of DoF. Now, the main server channel on most servers is the 60-69 channel, which most days just seems like a bunch of extremely crude and poorly educated people trying to insult each other. They can't even do that well usually.

The strongest and longest lasting friendships I still have in game are with people from the opposing city, we had to run to the Nek docks each day to exchange subs because there wasn't a high enough level crafter in our own city to provide them.

i believe if someone wants to craft, let them craft. great, you do whatever it is you enjoy in the game.

but do NOT make it so that to raid and have hte best equipment, i HAVE to craft, how fuckin fair would it be to say to crafters

*if you wanna craft anything beyond level 65 you have to be in an uber raiding guild and do your crafting while killing the direvine matron*

in my view its the same fuckin way when they add end game gear *best even beyond raiding* as a crafting fuckin component...

if i want to craft, ill fuckin craft, if i want to solo, ill fuckin solo, if i want to do heroic zones ill fuckin kill heroic zones, if i want to raid, ill fuckin raid...

you never see a point in this game saying if you want to do one aspect of this game you have to do another except for fuckin crafting, i want to be the best equiped caster i can be, and i fuckin DESPISE crafting, so why should i have to? i have yet to see a simple crafting recipe that says you must raid for it... sure there are some crafted items that you hvae to raid to finish the quest, but fact of the matter is, they are fuckin raiding items.. if you dont fuckin raid, you dont need fabled items *wyrmslayer*, plain and simple, and if i fuckin raid, i SHOULDNT HAVE TO CRAFT *BCG* when the best item of a given slot is from fuckin crafting, i think its only fair that lets say to get past level ** crafter, you have to be able to kill the matron, same fuckin difference, this is supposed to be a game of choices to do what you want to do to enjoy your time on this game, not *hey if you want to have the best gear ever, you gotta craft*
if you make me do one aspect of the game i think is fuckin bullshit, make everyone who does that aspect of the game do something they think is bullshit to

    /shrugs

    just my anti-crafting rants

This is one thing I truly miss of all the changes that have been made to any aspect of the game. I went down the path of the Tailor at launch and making one single item took an age because if I remember correctly I could only make one part of the finished item myself. For the rest, I needed other crafters.

You needed to form bonds with other crafters or you wouldn't make it. It forced a strong community, in my opinion the strongest community the game has seen to date. Crafting was hard, because it was hard not many took the challenge and you ended up with a situation where there was only a handful of crafters. You ended up with a situation where people would know your name and your trade.

It wouldn't be a case of someone asking "Looking for Weaponsmith" but rather, "Is Ixnay online, I need a weapon?" even from people who didn't even know you.

Hell, I remember selling items I'd found adventuring for patterns, not coin. Those were good times. Difficult times, but good none the less.

These days I don't even have the crafting channel active, its only purpose seems to house the type of people who post in NGD.

    Zom /cry crafting sucks

man get over it I wish more high end quests REQUIRED crafting! It should be like it was in T5, Except! there should be a whole lot more quests that require crafting from specific classes but make them tradeable for you lazy ass pure raiders that hate crafting :smiley-wink:
they better make crafter class specific shit in EoF cause im sick of being a worthless weaponsmith, who in the right mind would use the new crafted weapons?

I love crafting, I can't wait to log in and do JC so I can see what Runes and Spells I make next...In fact I'm glad I spent so much time harvesting metals when all I ever seem to use to level is roots and loams.

Nothing like that feeling you get when you accomplish 3 straight levels of your craft in a row and don't get one friggin recipe related to the craft.

Can't even contain how thrilled I am to do TS Writs where my ability as a Jeweler really shines...again making frigging runes.

Gotta agree with the poster who commented that the TS'ers can really flame, I love the threads explaining how their 20 level 70 carpenter is getting screwed out of the raws by the level 70's who don't belong harvesting their stuff in a T7 zone.

I think the game would be improved if instead of mobs dropping items, they would drop components that need to be crafted into the item (at last some portion). In T5 some of the best items in the game were like that then SOE trashed that too.
