In EQ1 my SK's name was Dravyn, got reported, I'm guessing because of Eric Draven in the Crow? I can't think of anything else in popular media that has that name. It was changed to Doofles or some crap, so I deleted him, was tired of playing him anyway.

A human sk named Doofles..what the fuck. How terrifiying is that.

I think the most moronic change was on LDL. Someone had their surname changed from Carpenter to Smith, because carpenter was an occupation.

My mains name is now Derecor . His name was to be Yourpalalcohl a Paladin / Armorer (yeah spelled alcohol wrong at creation and learned to live with it) untill it happined.
Im waiting for raids to form and I go LD , no biggie, till screen comes up with Yourpal's pic and Derecor as the name .I thought to myself WTF is a Derecor. I log in and see random Guild chat messages "who the fuck is Derecor ect.." I explained it was me and spent the evening letting all the crafting contacts on my friends list know what happined and that they could update their friends list, this has been my main since game launch and had a decient armoring bizz at the time , claimed first armorer on server to 60 shortly after the name change.And rebuilt my client base despite the name change. I know Yourpalalchl Publordian was'nt the best name choice, but its what I chose and it worked fine for well over a year. Derecor , I looked it up for the fun of it , is the name of a construction company in California . So for now he remaines Derecor Publordian in game , usually shortened to "Der" in chat . Some folks still say hey YP or Yourpal .Hell its still Yourpalalchol on the forums , makes no sence. Well anyway that was my joy run in with the name nazi's.
Im not too sore assed (well maby just a lil) but they can still eat a foot of steaming shit as far as Im concerned.

First guild created on Mistmoore was called Ragnarok, one day a full year later it becomes "The Rage" all of a sudden. They gave us the "popular media" speech as well but i can't figure out why it took them a year to change it. I'm guessing someone complained about the other MMO with the same name even though we chose it for a completely different reason (its the name of Armageddon in Norse mythology)

Crichton our main tank at the time, one day finds himself named Mangy (Later changed to Falter) after over a year with the name. And as a side note another guildie called Crychtonn still has his name even though its just a variation of the same name.

Even though it has nothing to do with namechange theres the whole incident when the name "Static" got merged with another guild to become "<strange symbols>a night Equinoxe". Apparently the database got fubared and everything belonging to a guild called Midnight Equinoxe got copied to us including motd and other crap. Fortunately enough it was fixed a while later but it was still kinda interesting while it lasted.

Strangely enough my mains name "Kuro" never got his name changed, theres nothing offensive about it really but it does mean Black/Dark in japanese so i figured it was gonna get changed sooner or later. (In beta i was called Kuro Neko which means black cat, i was watching anime when i installed and couldn't come up with a name so i just chose something silly on screen :D However about halfway through beta someone sent me a tell saying something about how kuro neko is a company or something so i changed it to just kuro by the time live got here.)

Tokamak

Someone decided to complain about one of my alts, Fast Breeder (now called Faster)... I can kind of see how they wouldnt want oblique references to shagging in the game (although it is not) but the GM that contacted me must have looked through my other toons. They decided that I could not have Tokamak as a toon name as it refered to a copyrighted piece of machinery (which it does not) even though no one had /petitioned it....

What followed was a week of me trying to explain to people (who I guess were googling tokamak...) that it was like deleting a name Painkiller, Truck or Triangle. They argued that I could not refer to something so specific but I must have pestered them enough because I got my name back in the end. But jesus fucking christ Team GM 34 - Me 1.

The only thing that kept me smiling was that they did nothing about my brigand Candu (more specific machinery) - Over enthusiastic and thick GMs, not a good combination
