Victim of Keylogging?
ok, so today, im in the middle of playing, when suddenly i go LD. at first i thought that it was just my average LD, but when i go to log in, my Password is changed. I will admit that i am not the original owner of the account (no, im not ebay, a friend gave me his account with like a year free on the subscription, which is why i actually started playing way back when) and a few guildies also have my info, so i figure it might be a practical joke, but its not.
So, i go through the necessary steps to change my password and my email address, just incase it is the original owner fucking with me or trying to get the account back for some unknown reason. everything is all good and fine for about an hour or so, but then just now i was kicked again. so i try to go through the necessary steps, only to find that my email is changed this time around. so, i am unable to get my changed password, and here i am, seemingly a victim of keylogging. im currently on the phone with CSR and trying to petition online...
My question is, has this ever happened to anyone, and what sort of things did you have to do to get your info back?
i know im gonna have to take the necessary steps to rid my computer of any keylogging programs, thats not the part im worried about, i just dont want to lose my beloved Dwarf Inquis...

Sounds more like someone logging into your stationplayers account and changing your info. A PW change there will knock you off line when zoning or when you revive. I'd suspect the original owner trying to take the account back more than anything else.

Re: Victim of Keylogging?
So would I. Problem is, in cases like this where account ownership is in debate, SoE tends to ban the account. If someone does get to keep it it tends to revert to the owner of the credit card that originally opened it.
Good luck.

Re: Victim of Keylogging?
Did this account have anything else enabled on it( like EQ1/SWG etc)?
I would include possibly he came back for Vanguard as any account in use in another SoE game will kick you offline in another. Or simply if you use the same login for EQ1/SWG as EQ2 you cannot be in both games at the same time on the same account.
Vanguard is excluded as at the moment you can be in both on the same account without being kicked.
So it's possible someone is logging into another game with this account if not EQ2.
That all said, let your friends know every character you had and have them watch for them loggin online to try and communicate with them should they log into EQ2 and pray it was just the old friend and not a hacker.
I hope eveyrthing turns out ok Ryklis.

Re: Victim of Keylogging?
I'd go ahead and make your own account, pay the 50 dollars and move your toon to that new account. Kinda pricey, but you won't lose anything.

Re: Victim of Keylogging?
i talked to my friend, and i found out it wasnt him, so that rules out that, we are very good friends, and have been so since way back when, so i can definitely rule out any foul play on his side.
Luckily, i was actually able to get the original info from him, and completely change every part of the registration, including the secret question, and original Name, so it actually belongs to me now 100%. Of course, i cleaned up my computer before touching anything close to something i needed to keep confidential, so hopefully i wont have anymore problems. The EQ2 gods were with me, since i got a CSR that spoke good english, hell, he might have even been from here.
i still think i am gonna transfer my char to another account anyway.

The only way to do that, or at least this is how it used to be when I tried to, is to use the OG credit card and OG name on the new account, or they won't let you transfer.
