This couldn't possibly work. If it did then once one person of a class got a drop it would never drop again and thus your second and third class x wouldn't ever be able to get thier pieces.

we just dropped minimum bid to 1/4 of former cost and force (so my answer is "force full minimum bid", lol), and began it yesterday.

If nobody is bidding on an item that is smartloot(VP Patterns) we decided to give it to someoen who doesn't have it already, for free even if they don't want, and they must either Appearance slot it, or bank it. They cannot "USE" the item. If they eventually want to use it they can pay dkp for it. If they get caught using it they loose ALL their dkp and are subject to removal.

Wow. Do you have guild babysitter ranks? Who the hell is going to keep track of that?

If the person doesn't want the item, do you think they will actually use it? I have bags full of shit sub-class gear that I won't use. I took it so it wouldn't drop again so the guild could get pieces that helped the raid. Most people in VP now already have one or two pieces of their set. Just get over it and spend the points. I'm pretty sure if you continue raiding you'll get more points.

Also, I don't think that one person holding all the unwanted patterns somehow effects smartloot. Smart loot looks at the class that is missing the piece, not a single character holding 30. If this worked then holding all the level 80 masters on one character would get them to stop dropping, and they have not.

I'm pretty certain if your minimium bid is so crazy high that you feel taking a shit item for 1 is a problem, there's a problem with your DKP system.

I'm not in VP yet, so someone tell me about the gems. Are they trash drops, are they tradeable? Is it feasible to have people bid DKP for the gems instead of the patterns? Or perhaps, if you say the item is shit and get it for free, you simply don't get the gems and can therefore never make the piece.
