Re: Vanguard and your guild
My guild pretty much bailed on EQ2. There were a few staying but then they left for raiding guilds. Since no guild on my server is recruiting Furies for times I can raid, i'm kind of stuck. I wanted to play both, but running instances in EQ2 with PUGS daily with no raids ever is not fun to me. So i'll probably be playing VG more than i thought.
Sucks to have so much time invested to just let my character rot away.

Totally agree here, and yes I too have been playing since beta 3.
No one in my guild is going to VG. Lots of us have played Beta and just didn't care for it.

Re: Vanguard and your guild
Seriously Phov i wouldnt trust any RPG about pally anymore, after what EQ2 did. rolling a pally on a new RPG is like having had a bad anal sexual experience starting to cover mentally and physically and yet still going to a gay party with friends. it s asking for it again...

Re: Vanguard and your guild
I have played the VG beta too and to me the game is not even close to being ready. For me it also just didnt work, When i started playing eq2 i felt as if i had something invested in my toon and i just dont feel that playing VG.

Re: Vanguard and your guild
I don't think (current) DoE cares much about Vanguard.
Neither does FF.

Re: Vanguard and your guild
We have a couple that left already. Most of the rest seem to be on the fence - "ehhhh some things about it are great! some things about it really suck!"
So it seems to me that while some would probably like to switch over eventually, they won't be at that point for a while yet. In the meantime, they're looking at the game as a source of more alts & EQ2 as raiding/main interest (must...finish...EoF).
I'm not thrilled - ever - when a game is not complete by the time it hits the shelves, but I'm not totally put out about it happening this way, either. It'll make it easier to play it and decide if it's worthwhile over time without too much investment - rather than jump in, play & invest mountains of time, only to find yourself frustrated and let down by ongoing problems not being fixed (like, say, 3 months of a nonaugmentable hat just because of its name ><).
Kinda helps those who want to permanantly switch make a more gradual transition if they want to do so, as well.

Everything requires you to make some sort of plan and tweak that plan as you go, even diplomacy. I don't know about the progression rate yet seeing as how my toon is only level 10. I cant help but do now what I tried to do with my original EQ1 toon, actually get involved in the game on a character level, not just as a player. As for being impressed with beta or not, from what I am hearing from other players, this is the most complete game they have played at this stage in beta period. Whether or not that is true I cant say cause this is the only game I have been involved in at this early a stage. I will admit, I was somewhat let down when I got into beta, but 2 months later when I logged in again (mostly cause when I logged in the first time I was lagging horribly) I was impressed. This game is gonna be around for a while and is gonna be a force to be wreckoned with in the MMO genre. The only things I remember enjoying about EQ2 when I first joined was the ease at which I could slide into the game and the graphics, other than that, I longed for more EQ1 features without going back to the funky graphics..Now I have that I cant say this game is gonna take players away from WoW or not, and I don't care. If they come over, let em come, they just need not act like the "kiddies" people make them out to be.

I'm not saying it's a bad game. I never said it was. It's just going to cater to a certain type of player, which I am not..and neither are the majority of my guildies.
Most of us have several level 70 toons (mains and alts) and we simply just don't have that kind of time or energy to do it all over again. We're in a good position - why wipe a slate clean?
