The reason why DPS-spec'd warriors are useful on raids, is beacuse their DPS is pretty much over-powered for what it should be. It's like pre-LU13. Fighters(tanks) were overpowered and did way too much DPS in comparison to other classes. Notice the problem, why bring other DPS classes, when Warriors could DPS and they can tank as well! Kind of retarded. That's the only reason why in WoW you can bring Warriors that are DPS-spec'd. Druids are the most imbalanced class in-game right now. They tank as well as a tank-spec'd Warrior, hold better AoE Aggro than a Warrior, and do as much DPS as a DPS-spec'd Warrior, all while being a Feral Druid. Notice the problem there, yah about that, it's a huge problem with balance. WoW is horrible at balance, most people have no clue about it because they are flat out retarded and don't care about balance.

Re: Classes that try too hard to be something else
Okay, I can definitely see where you're coming from then. Last I had checked it was more balanced than that, so I apologize for making an argument with information that obviously doesn't apply anymore. So with that in mind, I pose a question for you. Do you think it's possible for a class based system, in the elite areas of a game (DAoC excluded, since it's PvE sucked), to have meaninful specializations and niches instead of singluar choices or direct upgrade paths?

Re: Classes that try too hard to be something else
Technically speaking.. if a class can do "everything".. it is anything but imbalanced. It's just overpowered.

Re: Classes that try too hard to be something else
I am one of those raid furies that like to mix it up.
I dont try to hard to be something else, but hell yeah I definately lay the smack down. For me, healing does gets boring in certain zones that have been done 5 bazillion times.
It is pretty obvious as a healer, based on the zone and the amount of healers in the raid, and the setup what you need to be doing.
AKA, I will not be equiping all my proc dps int gear when we are about to fight a high end mob in a EOF zone. I will stick with my FT gear, godking weapon, and heal proc + stat equipment.
But HELL yeah I throw on all my dps gear for quick runs through DT, LOA, labs, etc...
Fury are the quick and on the spot healers... so as long and I know my profession, I have no issues with throwin dps in. I have no issues canceling my energy vortex and healing like someone said... a necro humpin life burn. Just as long as that necro spams that to group chat.

Re: Classes that try too hard to be something else
Another vote for Templar DPS-mania. Enchanters have a melee AA line, but you don't see them flocking to be dagger warriors. Templars can push the DPS up just enough to be mediocre - and make themselves mediocre healers along with it. If they really could push the DPS up high enough to be noticed, they would have drawn attention long ago and gotten the "treatment"
As a Templar, the DPS cheerleading is Yet Another Reason I wish Kendricke had found Inquistors more to his liking.

Re: Classes that try too hard to be something else
Reading that someone thinks Str/Int is the best KoS Crusader line for tanking, makes me cry
Stamina and Int >>>>>>>>>>>x1000 Strength and Int
It's like wanting to be a tanking Paladin and NOT taking the 24% Block increase AA...fuck all the rest of the paladin eoF aa's, but if you want to tank get the Block one.
