Yeah I agree that would suck...although most of this shit can be 1-2grpd now.. and 2 is if you really blow. Just did GK a few nights ago for a guildie and it was only me, a dirge, and a templar.

So where I agree with you that that would be a complete waste of time and effort and suck big balls for those like myself who've done all those quests multiple times.. On the other hand I do think that would be kinda badass to see some kind of nice reward for those who have stuck through ALL the expansions and did all the Epic raid line quests..

From my understanding what I read in a developers post is that there will be no new end epic weapons type quest. Our mythicals are probably still useful in the next expansion, however......who knows maybe the new raid zones have better weapons...or maybe they will mod the weapons a lil bit for the new expansion I know some of them will get a difference like the zerker one...apprently the zerker regain buff is going bye bye and that is one of the features on the mythical is that 300% of regain will generate as hate or some crap like that....now if that is gone I'm sure they will be adding/changing something to the weapon.

But for certain there will not be any new end game signature quest this year. Makes sense too since the mythicals came out pretty late in RoK.

If there are better weapons in next expansion than mythicals they will be prolly OP, atleast for some classes.

I'm fairly sure that if you just implemented a thing for mythicals that makes them upgrade for each raid zone you clear, that would fix this issue.

I mean, how cool would it have been to get that mythical, then kill trakanon and get another effect that only trak killing people get. THEN kill byzola and get another thing! Even if they are only slight increases, they are increases nevertheless.

I think a lot of the problem is the ease of obtaining your 'mythical'.

But to go back a bit, yes, epic 1.0's in eq1 for SOME classes were awesome for quite some time, as a wizard I used my epic 1.0 until PoP (PoTime specifically, wand off CT finally replaced it), clerics carried theirs for free rezzes still, etc, whereas melee's tended to upgrade theirs very quickly. But the lore was good, the difficulty in obtaining them changed over time of course, but that's the nature of things...

As time has gone on in eq2, the lore has gotten weaker, and these supposedly amazing quest-lines have gotten ridiculously easy....Prismatic's required you to do a mini-raid to start, learn a whole new language (by travelling all over the known norrath at the time), unlock MORE raids, and finally unlock a final raid to get your weapon...it was pretty nice tbh. Godking and Claymore's required some grouping , and a couple kills of raid mobs, but they at least took some time ...EoF was a series of group quests which took 1-2 days if you had the people available to help, followed by one raid kill to 'upgrade' to the final weapon...

Now we get a very quick and short quest series, much of which is soloable, to get your fabled epic, followed by needing two t1-t3 updates and one specific VP mob to make it mythical (yes, some people have stuff to kill afterwards), but basically, it's a joke to do.

The lore is lacking, the challenge is lacking, and more and more of late, I get disappointed that it's so easy for everyone to obtain these 'mythical' items...maybe we'll get lucky and they'll learn from what I think many perceive as the mistakes of these mythicals, but I doubt it.

Naw they'd do like they did in eq1, have quests to skip the first epic. The quest to skip is equivalent in difficulty to the original quest but in the new tier zones.

This just makes it harder for someone without the original to obtain the new one.

So yea maybe they dont have to just upgrade the epic but have the epic involved in a new quest to obtain a new more powerful artifact.

idk, it just be nice to not have to put something you worked hard for in the bank.

The MMO industry is moving to an instant gratification state and I don't think we are going to see anything like Epics 1.0 in EQ in any MMO in the foreseeable future. The fact is, people in general don't want to have to work to get rewarded, hense the solo fest in RoK.

If the game was extremely hard, then you would have casual players thinking along the lines of, "well, this game is just too hard to get anything meaningful, I'll just go play [insert game here]". This results to loss of subscriptions, and so on and so forth.

The industry is getting easier since MMOs have moved to a mainstream ganre. For the most part, we can thank WoW for that. It's good and bad, so we just have to accept it for what it is.

i don't think there should be a primary weapon up grade till level cap, but a nice mythical ohand/range/shild would be neat. maybe give it some synergistic effect that complements the current epic. since everyone is all ready beating the epic mobs and it will basicly become an item everyone has, it does warrant some type of up grade.

Another epic timeline would be great if you ask me, but then don't make a weapon, make a different slot item like claymore, make a fucking uber classonly cloak with uberlooks etc....
