Icon14 Your immediate reaction to Station Cash?

So, this was sudden: station cash. It's all been clarified at http://www.eq2flames.com/general-gam...tion-cash.html - but how did you react?

Me?

I was like "WHAT THE SHIT" and nearly canceled my account right there. I mean I know Sony laid off like 8,000 people [apparently SOE wasn't affected?] but goddamn. I think that shit should stay in F2P games. I'm still teetering now between leaving and staying. Hell, I heard that even Blizzard may do something similar.

But what was your immediate reaction? This mostly a poll thread so yeah.

I think if SOE is really going the microtransaction route the game should be free to play

imo its no different then lon theres just no risk involved... It is hardly anything to quit over imo but w/e its a multi national corporation that is in this to make money.. its an optional feature that is not required nor effects my gameplay one way or the other.. /shrug

I'll be honest. I chose "Meh, I might use it" because if it's in the game to stay (which I assume they don't expect to waste the development time) then I'll probably end up doing it like everyone else who can afford to eventually. Like I said in the other thread.

"Yay for subscription hikes or yay for being second rate."

So you can pay for xp bonus potions and some cosmetic b.s. that does nothing for you. You could already do this through other methods. It's just another slight to the older player base trivializing account veteran rewards ...

You can already go from 1-80 in a couple of weeks if you are an addict, this just feeds into the same people that like to roll a new toon everytime there's a new flavor of the month class or want to see the higher end of the game and are new players. Heck, people have already "maxed out" AA's and it hasn't even been a month since release of newest expansion. This simply gives more tools to fools that want to compete on that kind of level of insanity.

It's lame, but ... ah well. If SOE actually knew how to market EQ2 it wouldn't be a bad idea to get new players. But, well, they are lame, so it's just another reason to roll your eyes and carry on with whatever you were doing. It's nothing earthshattering.

Phase one was Station Exchange...that failed miserably
Phase two was LoN...that aint working so well
Phase three is now what we are seeing....Station Cash for xp potions and cosmetics.
Phase four will probably be offering for sale legendary gear for lower level toons. Doesn't really interfere with higher level toon's enjoyment, but gets new players use to the idea of paying for gear.
Phase five will probably be offering for sale legendary type gear at a higher level.
Phase six....all the time you have wasted on this game will be for naught, because anyone can buy anything to make their toon uber.
Who knows what else they will do, if you trust Smed or SOE you are a tool and a fool.

Only question I have is how are SOE's subscription numbers holding up? My guess not too good. I doubt I will be playing this game for much longer. Only reason why I am still playing is because too many people count on me as RL, and I have yet to find any alternate game that might entrance me. Make playing EQ2 pointless by trivializing my effort and I will leave this game.

Time for me to dust off my pool cue.

people need to peace out....SOE is coming up with ways that have been used by fuck tons of MMOS before it to keep itself funded. So long as this money is going towards development I'm happy.

I urge you menstrating crybaby fucktwats to fill out the survey they're holding (/survey).

Ad hominem attacks really make you look like you have a fucking clue about what you are saying.

I've filled out enough surveys to understand they are simply cover for a bullshit marketing ploy they are trying to foist upon the gaming populace.

MMO's that are Free-to-Play based. Microtransactions work when there's no subscription fee involved. Will be interesting to see how SOE manages to pull it off wanting both.
