What does it take to be a "Top" raiding guild on a server? (Not THE top but)
Ok this is a question thats sure to get me and my guild flamed and such, but I'm asking because i'm curious ... What does it take for a raiding guild to be considered one of the top guilds on the server? Before i say anymore I just want this to be known, DISSO IS THE TOP GUILD ON NEKTULOS, AND WE ARE NO WHERE NEAR DISSO ... ok now so they dont get their panties in a wad thinking we're saying we're near them, I just wanna know (because theres others, Shoukin, TDS, WoN, Cata and more) what it takes to be on that level.
We've cleared all instanced KoS content (MoA, Labs, Lyceum, HoS, AoA and DT) as well as several contesteds (Vrak, Pantrilla and i forget but i think theres one more, but im a stoner and i forget things) ... we've killed the Crab but not cleared the Roost yet ... We've killed the first 4 nameds in MMiS so far, and we've killed the first two in Freethinkers (and we're working on the third) ... We've not fought Pumpkin head or any Avatars yet (which i KNOW would put us up there), and we've yet to try Chel'Drak or the Matron.
Is there some general concensus that if you have killed _____ Your top notch?
Again, I'm not saying we're gunning for Disso (although in a way we are, cause wouldnt it be cool to one day be 'better than disso'? Yes, it would...but that day is far far away...although we are alot better than many of the guilds on our server and we might even be up there with some of those others i've named, I just have no frame of reference).
Ok, I'll try to read through all the flames and find the actual answers to my question, and maybe i'll even get some good info ... i hope so, because I'm really curious. Thanks everybody in advance!

To me to be a top guild, you should be able to beat contested, and make it a contested race for other guilds if they can beat contested as well, and have killed most instanced mobs on your server.

If you haven't killed any EoF contesteds and don't time the spawns or even make competent pulls, you're really not that relevant.

Re: What does it take to be a "Top" raiding guild on a server? (Not THE top but)
The top guilds are the ones that are on the leading edge of the content. Not just contesteds, because once a contested gets off your guild's standard raiding times, it gets harder to get them.
Some guilds have methods of getting contesteds no matter what time they spawn, but not all do.
A top guild is usually exclusive about it's membership as well, each raid group is planned around certain key players, and they usually don't have a lot of "filler" players as this disperses loot too widely. If a guild is up over 50 members, you're probably not a top guild. (ours has 30... and we're not the TOP guild on our server... yet)
It's all about completion, too. Beating FTH, MMIS 3 weeks before anyone else figures it out is a good indication that you're tops. Beating EH at all means you're actively working to be the best. You can't go into a zone for 2 1/2 days without a certain amount of obsession with being the best. Compared to your regular "legendary/heroic" player, these folk are a completely different species.

This is just my opinion, but I'd say that without trying to be a top guild world wide, you can hold your head high, walk like a pimp, and not be afraid to talk smack back to nubs who challenge your uberness AFTER you at least kill MO, Princes, and Cheldrak.
Other opinions may vary, but I personally consider defeating those encounters to be the current standard by which competent, reasonably bad ass guilds are measured.

Depends on your definition of badass, I don't think you are badass unless you have killed all of EoF minus the avatars and contested Mayong.

Agreed - there are relative degrees of bad assness.
On my personal bad ass scale, I give Bruce Lee a 10, with Mr. T about a 1, but only when he was in shape.
It's just my opinion that after a guild kills at least MO, Princes and Chel'Drak, they should no longer be considered a "nub" guild.
I'd say a guild that can fully clear EoF is a 10, and a guild that can do MO, Princes, and Chel'Drak is a 6. I think being a 6 is good enough to consider yourself bad ass, because that is above the median on the scale.

To me, a killshot of Matron means everything.
