VGplayers jealousy
Is anyone else here jealous about how much more information vgplayers provides to vanguard players than eq2players provides to us?
I mean the auto-blog thing seems silly at first, but I love the idea of the game taking a screenshot when I hit landmarks and stuff like that.
In comparing the two sites, the vgplayers site looks like someone put a lot of thought in to it, how its laid out, how it functions, etc. The eq2players site looks like an afterthought, and still doesn't even have all of the information available that it should. I mean the knowledge tab has been 'feature coming soon' for quite some time now. Also we can't see class based achievements yet, only sub class.
EQ2players can be so much more!!

Re: VGplayers jealousy
I'd like to comment on this also.
The VGPlayers features are AMAZING compared to the EQ2players features.
This is my Vanguard character's VGPlayers.com page:
http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/ch...Id=64424529518
Anytime I want, I can type "/portrait yes" in game, and it will snapshot and upload a portrait of my character in the gear he is then wearing, for example, these are the automatic pics of my toon wearing his adventure and then diplomacy gear:
And then, check out my "automatic blog":
http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/bl...Id=64424529518
What it does is automatically take a screenshot everytime I level and get a discovery, and then display that screenshot and list the day, time, and who I was grouped with.
VGPlayers.com is simply AMAZING compared to EQ2players.com. I would definitely also love for EQ2players to get the same benefits as VGplayers, I'm not sure why they give so much more to Vanguard players than EQ2 players on these sites.
Thanks

Re: VGplayers jealousy
One other key thing I'd like to mention, and this strikes me all the time:
Notice how all the armor my toons are wearing are from completely different drops, and he isn't wearing anything that's a matching set, yet it all still blends and matches together nicely.
And no, it's not like everything is just brown or black in Vanguard. What the system does is take your main pieces and matches the rest of your armor to them, giving you an overall matching look.
In EQ2, especially when tanks equip armor from different zones, it looks like they bought their gear at the Salvation Army or are color blind. Granted, it's not as bad as it was in T6, but still, nobody would ever put together some of the horribly mismatched items (with both clashing colors and patterns on different end-game fabled items dropped in the same tier) I still see many people walking around with.
Green shoulders and red breastplates may have the best stats for legendary armor available to tanks in T7, for example, but put that gear on an Ogre with a Frostfell cap, and you've got Santa Clause. Seriously, in EQ2 right now it looks like many tanks get their gear from an automotive dismantler.
EQ2 should definitely adopt whatever "mismatched armor blending system" that Vanguard is using.

Re: VGplayers jealousy
It's a newer game so of course it's going to have newer features. I honestly haven't even gone to look at my adventure blog yet. Just one of those things I keep meaning to do.

I'm still not sold, sorry. Of course vgplayers.com is a decent selling point. Has anyone heard anything about the direction EQ2players site is going or any updates that are incoming?

You certainly do
I still get called Santa now by my 'hilarious' guild mates
Hopefully SOE take this on board and deliver the next expansion with an eye to not only matching up armour pieces, but making them look half decent also.

Re: VGplayers jealousy
Wow.
That's a lot of stuff, but I still don't think Vanguard's a good MMORPG for me. Not saying it sucks though.
(EQ2 really needs better-looking armor. Well, a lot of it LOOKS nice, as a set. Mixed with other things? EW WTF.)

Re: VGplayers jealousy
Yes to both the underwhelming EQ2 players and EQ2 piecemeal armor.
EQ2Players - the only thing I can figure is that it was determined not cost-effective to upgrade it - VGPlayers shows just some of the potential of the web/game interface. At the time they could have pulled it off, the Star Wars Galaxies Fiasco was in full glory, so that was that.
The Legendary (Mythical?) model skeleton revamp still gets mentioned from time to time by the Devs, and until that happens, I doubt you'll see any great improvement. While I understand the reluctance to introduce armor dye into the game, it would be nice to at least color-coordinate armor to match a piece you own, so you don't have the color-blind messes.
