Re: PUGs
A couple of suggestions. Form the group yourself; you can be much pickier that way. The tank is will make or break your group. When you get your tank, go to EQ2players.com and look him/her up and check gear. And if you are joining a group, ask who the tank is and do the look up again.
If the tank is not a raiding tank, you will probably want two healers regardless of the zone that you are doing. And if playing with a non raid tank, expect to slow your dps. You cannot expect him/her to hold agro if you are going all out. If you are not a healer and constantly pull agro, then it is probably your fault after the first few times. You have to adapt to the tank; the tank cannot suddenly generate more agro if he sucks, but you can always generate less. With the next update, I whole heartedly expect it to help PUGs since it will be very easy to see where you stand in the hate list.

Re: PUGs
Pugs are made up of casual soloers for the most part... you know the people who don't need good gear ;)
J/K but you see my point... Most of the PUGs I've been in on Crushbone were pretty good experiances. But I usually stick with Guild only groups, due to the fact that when you know the people your playing with the instances go faster.

^^ this (two posts up)
Also, if you have to PUG - you can minimize retardation by stacking the group. Get an enchanter/bard/hate transfer/tank/healer/YOU and just add a DPS/extra bard/extra healer if you are one of those already.

I already stated that I was culling my dps to around 2k. I know how to adjust, any less dps from the group and we would never kill a mob. This isnt the point of the OP. I know Im not in the league of Dants or Ballads, but I know how to group.
My specific questions were about PUGs in general and whether people did them and their experiences. I am finding they are becoming a soul destroying waste of time, and while I do group in-guild a lot, because of my shifts at work I find myself playing a lot outside the regular guild playtimes (Ive also slacked off slightly and im not raiding atm, so raidtimes is PUGtime also). So, although I enjoy the smooth running of a well oiled group instance run, Ive recently started 'getting an attitude' and generally pissing people off, which is not what I want.
You were correct about the first bit tho - Maybe I should get off my lazy ass and start my own groups, along with Mafoes suggestion about a 'shit list'. But Im slack, and bards can get grouped easy ;)

Re: PUGs
I am so fed up with PUG's it's making me want to play less and less. My schedule isnt always the best, and I can't always run groups with guildies because of it, so i get stuck with my LFG Tag up and doing things with aweful PUGs.
Yesterday I was in the Scion of Ice group from hell. Almost an hour and a half to do the zone, died 6 times myself, and i solo healed it with a tank who would pull one mob at a time then an entire room. I soloed healed it and was top two in DPS in the group, the troub being the only one beating me on the parse. Hell I pulled agro from most of the names midway through the fight (i could understand on the pull, but midway through i shouldn't be able to by that point). It's just how PUGs are.

Re: PUGs
I haven't had that big of a problem. They are usually slower but I have yet to not be able to complete all but the really hard zones (Guk2,Guk3,Palace) in a pug.
They only people that piss me off are the ones that a clearly not trying like an 80 necromancer parsing 313 ZW in PoF.
If people need help the best way to get them to adjust is not to yell at them that they suck. I like to use the following
I don't play a tank but the MT in our guild does x, you might give it a whirl..
Whats your reasoning behind wearing that earing that gives you +15 to stealth speed when you don't have stealth?
Are you in O stance?
Agro can be tricky in here you want me to pull the room?

LOL as if your passive aggressiveness isn't transparent. Instead of playing games, why not just come out and tell them to turn the suck down? If they don't know what you're talking about, changing earrings or stances probably isn't going to do much. If DPS is a problem, i tell the group we need to do more DPS. Why play games? I'm sure the group appreciates honest feedback and leadership.

Re: PUGs
On befallen PuGs are okay. There is an unspoken blacklist that we all know about. I like PUGs because it adds an element of challenge to some zones. There are some toons that have soloed to 80 or just came back. with the Crit involved it is harder for these peeps as they don't have gear to do the TSO instances. but then again the tso instances they need to do to get the shards for the gear. Aside from the blacklist of peeps the server is pretty decent and we usually just help each other out. Some PuGs cn't be done but we have fun with it. If you can beat the zone with a shitty PuG then it just trains you that much better for when shit hits the fan in raid.

Re: PUGs
first thing i dont raid, well i wouldent be concidered someone who raids by most people on this forum, i cleared everything up to ferzual without a myth, ( i got ferzuhl once i got it but thats something diffrent) and did them all with pickup groups, heres the thing PUGs are a toss up it makes it easier on me since im a tank and dps fairly well (3-5k zws depending on the group setup) so i can kinda pull lesser groups through zones, but their are days i cant complete forge, and their are days i do the hardest guk with no deaths in 30 min. and to answer your question yes the game has gotten harder, i remember when rok came out i couldent tank coa my first time, ( I was 78) now i can solo it up to the last named. fact is i am in a guild were alot of players are casual ( by casual i mean have NEVER even seen a raid zone) we failed at forge with a group of 6 and 2 healers, one healer logged and a dps logged and did maidens with a troub an inq myself (a paladin) and a a warlock in 40 min. maidens used to be one of the harder rok zones. also remember eof? or kos? remember HoF or even things like oob and cov, i was shocked when i did coa for the first time on the sheer amount of hps those mobs had comepaired to EoF, Tso mobs have hp and hit harder then teir 7 raid mobs which doesent seem like a big deal unless you look at say cov mobs vs the dijjinn master. the games difficulty has spiked so high casuals cant keep up. their is no way in hell someone who hasent raided before will beable to carry their weight in anything past forge difficulty
