PUGs
I was in a PUG yesterday, Sebilis for an alts epic updates, and I couldnt help noticing how unbelievelably shit the group was, in particular the random 'tab' aggroing tank. Now I normally would just shrug it off as the joys of PUGs, but for two reasons.
1. I joined a PUG in Deep Forge a week or so ago (as I probably dont need to say its a pretty easy zone), and the tank couldnt hold aggro for shit, even from a troub desperately trying to do under 2k dps. Add to that an abysmal healer, from the same guild, that struggled to even keep the tank in LOS. Because of this we just about completed the shard quest (we didnt bother with the last mob), and my mender was very pleased to see me.
2. I got really bloody annoyed. So much so that I have been questioning whether I should be playing EQ2 at all. The healer from the above group told me I had 'an attitude problem'. Which is probably the truth...
So anyway, my question in the gameplay section is: Is it normal to struggle to do easy zones such as DF in PUGS? Am I spoilt running these zones in the guild Im in with good players? Do I need to make a shit list of people I wont group with? Shall I scrap PUGs altogether?
I seem to remember 'back in the day', when I was shit, running instances in PUGs (I had no other choice back then) and they didnt seem so much of a struggle. Has the game become harder? Or has my patience become thinner?
Does anyone else feel the same?

Re: PUGs
On Runnyeye, the PUGs are usually decent. I do quite a lot of PUGing, mostly because we all know raid tanks are slack (.p) and because I deem it as worthwhile to spend a few extra minutes to make myself and my guild more visible on the server. However, I am hesitant to go to harder/longer zones with non-raiders. Guk or PoF... I dunno. Better not?
But making a list with good players is not such a bad idea. It's just a pity Everquest doesn't allow for taking notes of players in-game other than the friends list... and I don't want to put 100 people on my friends list for that purpose, and see all those people log on and off all the time. I guess I could suggest such a feature for EQ2, but I am weary of suggesting stuff that won't happen.
Anyway. Najena and Miragul seem to be fine for PUGs. The majority I can do without wiping more than once or twice.

Re: PUGs
I've given up on PUG's. 80% of the time, you have a tank who cant hold agro and use temp buffs at the wrong times, a healer who uses a death prevent at some random time for no apparent reason, a wizard who casts their root for no reason, a conj/necro who has their tank pet out or their dps pet in defensive stance, a dirge who doesn't know which buffs work best with what group, or scouts who generally just spam their CA's.
Sound familiar?

Re: PUGs
How did you get to lvl 80 and have never been in a bad group before? If you don't want to adjust your dps to the level of tank your grouping with then dont do pug's with non raiders. Not every player in the game is a badass like yourself. Adjust yourself accordingly.

Re: PUGs
There is simply too much stuff to do in this game to do PUGs... ;-)

Tyvm, but im not a 'badass'. 2k dps is squat and should not pull aggro from a tank. Ive seen assassins, warlocks and wizzys popping 10k plus in DF without the tank losing aggro.
It wasnt my original point of the post anyway. But now you mention it, how does a guardian get to level 80 without realising he cant hold aggro against bards?

Re: PUGs
I do PUGs all the time, but i enjoy the challenge.
As for that guard, he probably solo'd his way to 80, like most people do these days.

Not in my experience. I think maybe once in the 20 or 30 PUG TSO groups I've done has there really been a serious issue. Other than that you occasionally get the retarded treasured/MCd level 80 assassin parsing 1200 DPS, or the equivalent in another class, but the relative lack of fail in the rest of the group members makes up for it.

We have a winner, I think that's the #1 cause of retardedness in the players that suck (although it's duking it out with the #2 cause, which is just plain being retarded).
