Default It blows my mind...

...that rather than just have a competently-designed customer support window, they decided to shove in an entire fucking web browser engine. I would LOOOOVE to know whose decision that was.

It's because it's cheaper. Think about it, they aren't running the Customer Support anymore, it's completely 3rd party. Rather than spending money to design an interface which meshes in-game to the 3rd party website, they just throw in a browser for a few man hours(because realistically it doesn't take that much code to code the front-end for Gecko-powered browser), and call it a done deal.

Either way, I like the fact that I have a web browser in-game now

You can still handle outsourced support without doing that.

My Firefox windows routinely have 12+ tabs at a time, with full bookmark listings, and doesn't lose state every time I switch away from it; the in-game browser would be a major step down.

It's a large duplication of code, considering I already have two web browsers installed on my PC. And it's another point of failure for memory leaks and crashes and god only knows what the fuck else.

I'm waiting for Sony to figure out a way to figure out how to get Internet Explorer on there so I get a FUCK ton of spam and pop ups... then I'll just go download the EQ2 Firefox version and unshitify my EQ2.. browser... that is.

For about 85% of the people, the /browser function to causes them to crash. Kiluvian tried to get me to crash by using it... same way he'd copy links into the hotbar that would close your EQ2 or cause a client crash.

Funny, you can cause a client crash by being an ass, or by asking someone to try using the newest function of the EQ2 UI.

/sigh
