I assume the conflict Oopo referenced between Coldmetal and Kurizobo involved the public channels on the Nek server. Kuri was very active in those channels, and could be somewhat "outspoken" at times, to say the least. Coldmetal is known as an advocate against extreme profanity and sexual references in EQ2's public server channels. These opposing forces apparently came into conflict, which resulted in official intervention by SoE.

This is all speculation, but based on Oopo's comment, it would appear that SoE did not adopt Kuri's views in that conflict.

Who says? I say language is language, if it conveys the meaning then its been successful. Besides what to some is vulgarity, i consider one of the purest forms of emotional expression. I dare you to say im wrong. I fuckin double dare you!~

It’s like I always have to explain to the wife, curse words are not unnecessary words they are emphasis words.

For example:

“What are you doing?”

-This can only mean you are curious, if they answer they answer, if not you don’t really care. Even if you put emphasis on “what” it still just doesn’t convey much.

“What the hell are you doing?”

-inclusion of the light swearword “hell” makes the statement so much more pungent. It lets the listener/reader know that you may or may not know what they are up to, you would like to know for sure, and in your opinion they should stop.

“What the fuck are you doing?”

-Lets the listener/reader know that you are seriously concerned with their actions and want them to stop immediately.

“Holy shit, what the fucking hell are you fucking doing? Jesus Christ and mother fucker!”

-Lets the listener/reader know that you don’t really understand how swearing can be used to add emphasis and just like to swear. But they will probably stop doing what they are doing, either to bonk you on your head or laugh at you hysterically.
