Blizzard came out with that little authenticator keyfob thing thats requires you to type in the 6 digit code to be able to log onto your WoW account/game. It was $6.50 and pretty much stops keyloggers and stupid fucking idiots from losing there accounts.

Now they come out with this (Korea now, USA later):

So now iPhone and other phone users can get the 8 digit key on there phones.

Some time this fucking decade Sony will wake the fuck up and stop with the milking money for there game and get with the changes. iPhone/Android phone apps are a huge hit. Stuff like this shows a commitment for all the games Blizzard has out.

Believe me, if Sony came out with this when they were developing that Sony Station thing that allows you to login for whatever game, I woulda been impressed but alas, the single core morons are stuck giving you cards with different colored mounts.

Flame this post however you want (This is a general complaint about Sony being stuck in 2003 so this forum seemed appropriate but feel free to even pop my Carebear cherry) but I read some little 5 year old kid that made an iPhone app that thousands of people are downloading per day. Maybe he should do some contract work for Sony.

I feel Sony as a whole has a large need to get with the times. Look @ how poorly the PS3 is conceived by the public. It is an amazing machine marketed horribly by Sony.

Sony seems to have great and grand ideas, they just take forever to implement them (PSHome) or completely neglect others (download speeds on both the PS3 and EQ2). Then they build hype for all the wrong things and end up f'ing themselves in the end. Its a good thing they are a diverse company as I'm not certain they'd survive if they were gaming specific.

This technology has been cheaply available for 10 years now, and this application is just stupid.

If you took care of your computer properly, and pay for software, music and movies, instead of downloading the latest keygen or torrent that oops, seems to be on some server in Bosnia, you won't get your account hacked.

I'm not saying that every server in bosnia is hosted by a hacker... i'm just saying it's more likely, esp if they're offering you free stuff.

I don't have issues with download speed for my PS3... it is the 160GB version.

Yep, this is fact. It just comes down to people not being stupid as cows and realizing when things are not as they seem. Attention to detail, what a concept.

Guess what? The same people that will do that will do that regardless of the game. So the same dumb ass WoW guy is the same dumb ass EQ2 guy.

The minimal time and effort and almost no upkeep to technology like this will save Blizzard tons of $$$ from all the donkeys who click yes to everything or give out their passwords to efriends. They won't have to deal with phone,email tech support over "hacked" accounts if you have an authenticator keyfob or phone.

If it can save a company tons of money and its ridiculously inexpensive to develop, why the fuck not have it? If the keyfob came bundled with the next EQ2 shitspansion, I guaranfuckingtee you people would be using it.

I for one used it when I played WoW and currently use it for my banking website. 3 seconds of my time saves me from being a potential victim. I'm not the only one that uses my computer.

The time they don't spend dealing with hacked accounts they'll deal with "My fob isn't working!" or "I lost my fob, how do I get a replacement?!" and they'll still deal with hacked accounts, because "everyone" isn't going to buy one, and even if you package it with an expansion, not everyone is going to use it.
