Some of the newbie areas are pretty fun, getting your first AA points is nice, and watching your progression from level to level. Even the solo quests in ROK aren't *that* awful (granted, not *that* great either), but once you hit max level, the game turns into a crapfest imo. Grind instances over and over just so you can get better gear which really doesn't matter most of the time because the instances just require you to pay attention, so one person can ruin a group completely. It's not like that in the newbie zones, which is probably why you're still having fun.
Good insight! Like I stated once that newness feeling fades I may feel different I may not. It's funny because all week I have been trying to get my friends to stop playing WOW and come on over. I can't get them away from their Naxx raiding (Gear grind) and the boring over played daily quests. I guess what I am looking for is newness and heck EQ is very nostalgic! I have always enjoyed the EQ classes as well! I am now a level 24 dirge and currently trying a ranger now. I played one of those in EQ1. I'm an alt whore!

IMO Eq2 is by far the best game out there to date. Even though I think recently they have dumbed down the difficulty (it's possible to hit 70 in a day now if you have a High level friend) I still think the game provides interesting story and fun quests to do, it's someplace where I can relax after a shitty day. That is why I came back, it was familiar and fun.

i actually reactivated my account since WAR really sucks atm.
I dont even miss the "pvp" from that game because its just zerging.

I dont think EQ2 is dumbed down, it may be faster to reach the endgame, but some of the new dungeons really require everyone in the group to think and act in a not stupid way (which proofed to be very diffucult for many players allready)

Eq2 is pretty good for high level content in comparison to games like WoW. Hit 80 in WoW and you can pretty much expect to be sitting on your ass all day doing nothing, because that's pretty much all there is to do.

Compare communities. WoW is mainly a kid orientated game, sorry to give in to sterotypes but this one is true. WoW is famous for barrens chat, and as a you know, you see more maturity from a brown paper bag than you do from the WoW community.

Eq2 is mainly adult dominated, or at least, majority is. Though Eq2 may not be mind blowing at end game, there is at least a caring community that provides a gaming social life for players once you have done all the instances and raids.

Pretty much every game has its pros and its cons, but Eq2 is hardly the worst of the lot. Sure, SoE isn't the best of developers and yes, the game is full of bugs, but the most important aspect of an MMO in my opinion, is the community, and in my experience Eq2 has the best players so far.

My other point is that not all MMO's are based on end content. Yes, if you're a raider, soloing content means jack all, but for others, say if you're a casual grouper, or soloer, content does mean a lot, and eq2 has enough of it. World of Warcraft is an excellent game for leveling content. There's enough of it to keep you interested till cap level, though once you hit cap the fun is more or less over. Lore junkies like myself enjoy(ed) WoW for it's rich content, though at the end of the day, lore can't save a game.

To sum up? A game is what you make it. If you participate in the community and make a few friends, the game is going to be a lot more fun than if you pursue an anti-social life. If you're looking for a game with a good community, sufficient solo content, a large variety of different classes, and an all round enjoyable gaming environment, then eq2 is still one of the better MMO's out there. Just keep in mind that no game will hold your interest forever...

I would like to know how you would hit 70 in 24 hours. Yeah I am having fun with it too, still working the KJ solo line. I can play for 2-3 hours and actually make some visible progress. It is dumbed down to a certain extent but its a necessary evil. Dumbing it down brings in some new players(READ revenue) so SoE can keep the game going for the rest of us.

Any particular reason why you would want to hit 70 in a day? Unless you hardcore raid you are just (at least in my humble opinion) wasting your money. May aswell level at a casual pace and get your moneys worth. I know I said that there is some end game content but if you expect to get all of your enjoyment from a game by power leveling for end content, you're in for a big surprise.

In my experience the best of players are the ones who have spent time getting to know their class well, and taking time to level up certainly gives you the opportunity to do so

Makes sense I guess. My points only really apply to new players lol. Old gamers can't be fucked soloing to 80, and I can hardly blame them

Define "kid oriented" what age group is that? My son had troubles playing and he is 8. Heck he did level my fishing skill...but still he had a hard time understanding and playing the game to it's full potential. I will definitly agree that the community is on the immature side for sure! But even adults can be immature.
