Someone should be fired over the 'NEW' SOE forums

My post about this was deleted from the SOE boards, so I will post it here.

If I took something that worked, and was used by many of my customers, and replaced it with a crappy freeware version I downloaded off the net, that had 90% of the functionality jerked out of it. I know I would be fired or forced to work round the clock to get it mostly back together.

Sometimes I think SOE is really some guy in his garage.

I couldn't agree more. The new forums absolutely suck. I used to post on the old forums quite a bit, but think I may have mustered <10 since the swtich. I honestly wander if they don't want it crappy and hard to use to keep people from "voicing." The new forums are a huge step backward.

Atleast the Devs post here, and we don't have all the retards that are level 32 and think they know everything chiming in.

Actually, if I heard someone say, "Yeah we know we got a lot of work to do on it, and we are indeed working on it now." Even without an ETA, I would feel better.

Also would kill the conspiracy theorists.

I have to defend Grimwell here.

I realize people are expressing dissatisfaction with the new SoE forum software.

But the decision of what to use, and the implementation plan for it, was made long before he came on board.

Since he came on, he's been underwater dealing with the unforeseeable problems that have arisen from the new software and related issues.

Cut the guy some slack, he is doing everything humanly possible to try and make things work. He is currently in a thankless, no win situation, and will need time to dig out from it.

One other thing also - what the SoE people think of as the most uncool thing of all, and what NEVER gets a response, is saying that one of them should be fired for something. There are a million other ways to express the same dissatisfaction than to say someone should lose their job over something you don't like.

I'm just telling you, if you want a response or feedback from SoE about anything, you have guaranteed that you WON'T get one by starting a post saying that someone at SoE should be fired.

Your chance at getting a response, and the information you seek, would be 10000000000000 times better if you said just about anything different than what you said in the post title.

I can't necessarily blame them either - if someone was making public posts saying I should be fired, neither me nor my co-workers would be likely to respond to that either.

I would have been fired long ago if this was a regular job. The only way a person with anger management issues and idiosyncracies like mine can succeed is to find his own path, and build his own wagon to travel it.

LFG, I do indeed understand all of that, even that grimwell is dealing with a problem he didn't start.

But honestly, 1 look at the loss of functionality should have been enough for someone, sometime "In the beginning" to look at jforums, and say our people will hate this, AND it will be detrimental to a communication tool that we AND our customers have an enourmous amount of time already invested in.

I 'understand', but have a very hard time feeling sorry for them. They planned it. Then they executed it. (That may be giving them too much credit, but this is NOT supposed to be some guy in his garage.)

These forums which are maintained parttime? have much of the functionality missing from jforums, and you are not a multi-million dollar corporation. (I assume :O )

Just realized that it earned me a 3 day ban.

oh well goin' on vacation in an hour for 5 days, guess that will work out.
