Gold seller ads - don't let this happen to you!
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of BG, but it is a sad day indeed to see advertising like this on his site:
I'm going to assume this is all a big mistake and that he's just been too busy to notice all the gold seller ads on his website that he seems to update frequently.
But if these same gold seller ads are still up a week from now, I think we have to assume that it's just really expensive to live in Boston, and we should pass around the hat and start up a rent fund to help him out.
Remember, friends don't let friends advertise for the secondary MMO aftermarket!

thats how google ads work. aren't people smart enough to understand that they aren't the opinion of the webmaster?
fighting gold ads on other websites is a lost cause. you take the high (albeit cheap) road and just dont display any ads at all.

I disagree. Advertising for goldsellers is wrong. If you make money doing it, that makes you the same thing as a gold seller.
I do not believe BG knows those ads are there, it must be some kind of mistake.
You can filter Google adsense ads, but as you point out Snark, it is a losing battle.
My point is this: BG is a pillar of the MMOG community. Pillars shouldn't run gold seller ads on their web sites, period, end of story.

Re: Gold seller ads - don't let this happen to you!
We are getting over 100 new users each week now, and thousands of unique visitors per day. Our hits, page loads, whatever you want to measure, are astronomical.
I'd love for someone not related to the gold industry to sponsor this site, buy all the advertising, just one company, on a monthly basis. Then, we would never have to worry about gold seller ads.
Surely, someone has a business and would like to rent an upper banner and lower banner on every page of this site for one monthly fee, with your company listed as Site Sponsor in the banner.
Not trying to get rich, would just like to break even and continue this long term.
Serious inquiries only please, must be totally legit and unrelated to anything sleazy. I'd rather take less money, and promote a dignified, quality company.
Thanks

You can 'tell' google ads not to include certain ads in your ad. This is how most sites prevent gold sellers from spamming their google ads. Maybe BG just doesn't know this.

Ya, there must be a rational explanation.

Yes, but they would be Pillars of the Gold spamming community, thus exempt from rules that govern civilized people. So Pillars of Evil don't count, and i stand corrected.
