EVE is a complete exception to the rule of dev-community relationship. CCP gets their customers, and I'd be surprised if anyone working there doesn't actually play the game - they know what the issues are because they love their game, and the fact that all of their expansions (some of which have had more content than what other MMO's push as $40 xpacs) have been free is astounding imo. Not to mention the quality is generally higher than what other mmo's charge for. And one of the biggest expansions ever released for the game just went out smoothly and full of win while the country which the company is based in spirals into the shitter. And I know all this because CCP actually puts out progress reports, and every individual working there has an opportunity to connect with the players. Look up any of their videos on the recent expansion "Apocrypha" on youtube to see why they earn the respect of the players.

Bottom line, SOE needs to take notes, and start with a clean slate of employees which are passionate about improving the game they love, not about greed.

Oddly enough, both EQ2 and EVE are well-known for dev scandals. Lol.

SOE needs to start with looking at its business model more than anything else. While it has been apparent something was seriously fucked at the upper levels since at least GoD for EQ1, Locke's posts show that SOE itself needs to change before anything else happens.

The company seems like a dev/enthusiasm killer and destroyer of its own loyal customers.

/agree...

There as some controversy some years back when GMR died as EB's game mag. Later some of the people from GMR went to 1up.com and did some work. While there it came out that GI doesnt even have to review the game to give it a decent rating.

They let it be known that with a few phone calls posing as advertising execs from different game publishers they could get a good review from GI if they promised to buy anough add-space in the magazine to start with.... they... like I .. were disgusted and pretty much forgot about ever reading that shitty ass rag again.

I'm guessing you included GI as a shoutout and method for which to sneak into their e-magazine, whatever, it's blatant and obnoxious. You then have the audacity to presume that you know the "original vision" for the game; news flash: you don't.

Bottom line, you're a bad writer with no focus and your opinion on EQ2's spell consolidation is old news that has already been said with more eloquence and less words by posters on this board and the official forums.

Look at this. Millions of Geeks attempting to write an Essay on a Forum.......This is Priceless
