Default Why make it this hard to pay you money?

I transferred one of my characters between accounts the other day, and in doing so had to use the character transfer service. Nothing wrong with that, but whenever I attempt to load the official link for the transfer service:

https://secure.station.sony.com/eq2c...ransferOrder.m

I get http errors.

Now, eventually the other day, a friend of mine told me about a "back door" link to get into the character transfer page, and when I used it, mission successful. I was able to transfer my toon between accounts, my world was happy again.

I'm personally waiting until the free transfer period opens up, and am extremely happy and appreciative of the fact that will allow me assemble my collective EQ2 army of toons on one server again, and to be all that I can be with respect to total domination of the broker on that server. I sure wish they would hurry up and announce when this will happen, but beggars can't be choosers, so I'll just wait patiently and be happy knowing my greatest EQ2 wish is about to come true.

On the other hand, I have a friend who is trying to move from one server to another, today, to get a spot in a guild. He is willing to pay the $50 bucks.

I've looked and looked, and cannot find the "alternate" link to the official link for the character transfer page, the one I used the other day.

Does anyone know the "other" method of getting into the character transfer page, besides the one that SoE links as the valid one everywhere, but that never works?

As a side note, I've obviously spent a lot of money on character transfers in the past several months, and this problem with the character transfer screen has been chronic and ongoing for at least six months.

If this was my company, I'd want to make it easier for MMOG addicts to throw $50 dollar bills at me. I mean seriously, why is this so freaking hard, and so broken, for so long now?

Thanks

I was just thinking also - I wonder how much SoE has made with the character transfer service, just based on moves resulting from drama originating from this site.

I think that alone would justify SoE becoming our site sponsor, and purchasing a permanent banner linking to the character transfer service from the header of this site!

C'mon dudes - you may cringe and hold up your fingers in a sign of the cross at some of the stuff that goes on here sometimes - but this is a healthy, symbiotic relationship we have going on here - so how about throwing us an advertising bone? We are cheap, just not easy.

Annoying as hell. I finally got it to work after I rebooted.

The page I linked, will first prompt you to login. Then after you log in, it will take you to the next page. I cannot link the 2nd page since half the addy is Session ID bullshit.

I'm guessing maybe something on your side with authentication?

Only thing I use is standard window XP firewalls - no virus software even, since these comps only have Windows, EQ2, and Vanguard on them, with nothing else.
