Re: Housing LAG
Maybe they didn't mean to fix it. They fixed something else, and it fixed house lag too. It's usually the other way around when they fix something though...lol

Bingo. The items in a house are expected to cause lag because they are dynamic and have to be individually handled as opposed to the zone geometry which is fixed and highly highly optimized before general release.
Did anyone hear of Silverfrost before his little blurb on the official website?

Yes, I met him and had the good fortune to spend some time with him at the first Fanfaire in Las Vegas. He is the epitome of a total stand up guy, just extremely enthusiastic and gung ho about what he does, very fan and subscriber oriented. Really great attitude, extremely helpful and knowledgeable, but also very soft spoken, and seemed to want to give credit for everything to everyone else. I was obviously very impressed with him and have been a fan of his since. But he is like a secret weapon to EQ2, and it's like he works undercover, is always quiet, and is never in the spot light.
It would be a huge thing to us fans if he would post here and explain where the lag went, and the larger significance of that to the game.
Seriously, I think Silverfrost would be huge for EQ2 PR and would be more popular with EQ2 fans than a NFL quarterback who was also a rockstar.

The difference really is amazing, before i had to turn graphics down to minimum and drop all house pets even to move around. Now its as smooth as any other zone even on high quality. Nice work Autenil

Re: Housing LAG
In this case, it's not just you. I got sick of trying to buy items in Qeynos in players' houses and getting <1 fps on my secondary machine.
If you want the techincal reason why the lag was so bad before, the engine was trying to calculate head tracking angles and overhead name locations for house items that have neither. Needless to say, it was wasting a lot of time doing so
Honestly, I'm not sure why it was a 'stealth' fix. The wording was probably techincal in nature and didn't explicitly say 'zomg no more housing l4g!!!11one' (though it should have).

Re: Housing LAG
lol
But yes, the technical reason is always more gratifying.

Thanks a ton - this should really be put in the patch notes, and written up as an eq2players.com main event update.
