So you liked the mind-numbingly long runs between quest NPCs and the mobs they wanted us to kill, which artificially and VERY OBVIOUSLY slowed down leveling?

EQ2 devs say "overland = solo, indoor = group" but then explain the City of Mist?

There is no reason they could not have added more heroic outdoor content. Kunark felt empty without it.

Kunark to me is largely a massive, open wasteland. I mean the first time I got near the battle going on between Skyfire Mountains and Danak in Jarsath Wastes, I thought KICKASS we're going to get to do something cool here. We'll pick a side in the battle and help out. Something epic. Nope. Not there's not even really a quest here.

Just as far as a zone that feels 'alive' I thought Moors of Ykesha was interesting and at least more populated and compact (except Lower Moors where I think they ran out of time). Travel is kind of odd forcing everyone to fly to one place before they can get anywhere else.

Tower of Frozen Shadow. Would love to see that one again but dont put it in the middle of no where. Bring your undead and vampire bane.

I too was spellbound by the battleground in JW when I first saw it. I immediately thought that they had finally figured out a way of integrating players into a dynamic landscape where we do more than just kill and quest. Sadly no such luck. That's what MMOs really need. It's certainly what EQ2 needs. A living breathing world that has a bearing on what goes on, for both us the player and the inhabitants of the area.
Or am I asking too much?

You hit that one dead on. There is no point to the long run other than to create a time sink. If there was actually a point to the run and a worthwhile reward for the effort, it wouldn't be so bad. That's a problem with quests in general lately. There is no real point to them other than to level grind. Quests need to have a purpose and 95% of the quests added in the last 3 expansions really don't.

I'd rather they differentiate between quests and mindless kill tasks. For people who like to sit there and mindlessly level on the kill 10 of x quests, jut put a taskmaster in each hub area where you can just walk up to it, collect your task, walk 50 ft out of the town, and kill your 10 rats an then rinse and repeat. I agree, there is no reason to send someone 5 miles across the zone to kill 10 rats. However, I have no issue trekking 5 miles across the zone to hunt down an elusive heroic named to work towards a real reward.

Just got back into EQ1.

The last two expacs of EQ1 are pretty baller.
Shit loads to do. Multiple paths of progression and zones that not only blow EQ2 overland and dungeon zones out of the water in terms of content, and size, but also fun.

The Eq2 devs need to have a meeting with the EQ1 devs to discuss how the EQ1 devs seem to have gotten it right over the passed two years.

Amazing game in comparison now. Although the player characters still look like the shit we were given in 2002.
