What will really suck is if one of the lower tiered mobs drops an item better for say a mage and you get to for example Ykesha and mages are like WTF we need to kill the easy version so we can get the ring of ownage while everyone else wants the hard table.
Exactly. They are trying to simplify this game and then at the same time investing retarded amounts of time into making stuff more complicated further down the road.

I wonder what takes more time, designing a zone with art, etc etc.. or creating encounters.

Perfect? No. Competent and good ideas? Yes. The statement was just a note to the fact that EQ2 has tried some really good ideas in the past that were either poorly thought out or executed and that, given the long history of smart things done retardedly, we can nitpick the hell out of whatever and be justified even before it hits test. I'm personally waiting to see it in action before judging it but if you think we have to actually take a wait and see attitude given this game's history, you haven't been paying attention and should go back to your stupor instead of jumping on obvious jokes.

tuning encounters can be quite difficult too i can imagine but yea, in EQ2 the art takes the longest amount of time if you talked to the devs. the most time consuming by far is actually animations and skeletal work which is why i wouldn't expect to see any changes there anytime soon because once that is finished it is basically abandoned.

i've dealt with it plenty in the past history of the game and of course i know where it comes from. all i was trying to say is people have become impatient to the point of judging the simple thought of ideas before seeing them at work.

SOE has screwed up many things and it can be very frustrating, but I think that we should at least wait and see what it has to offer before calling it a failure. The example of the sisters is a perfect example of how the easy/hard system could be implemented, so I think it will be neat to see how it plays out.

The loot table is my number one concern. As long as they don't screw up the loot part of it, I don't see a problem. To ensure that they don't fuck up progression, they should make it so the easy version drops 1 or 2 masters and that is it. No items at all. Then the medium and hard versions would only need balanced.

Because Tombs, Munzok's, Stronghold and Palace aren't the exact same art as group zones?

even those shitty looking armor pieces are considered artwork(condom helmet? wtf?). you could compare the design of a dungeon from one to the next and think about how many templates are shared or you can think about how many more zones you have added per year because they try to rush them out to please people.

They reuse those zones because they dont have enough time to make new instances for all the raid zones.

Thats what happens when everything becomes instanced =/
