You are absolutely bat shit crazy you know that? How can you possibly believe the stuff you type? It is not a World of Warcraft term and to claim it is would be inane. Wim Delvoye looks sane compared to some of the stuff you try to rationalize. I guess the history of something is thrown out the window just because you say so! Key Board Cat is from Scribblenauts!

Meh you can consider it a WoW term all you want, but when WoW sites consider it a SC term, then I think you should head back to the drawing board.

If it was a wow term, wouldn't it be called World of theory, or something like that?

The game where it originated is all but dead. The current widespread usage is linked to the most popular MMO of all time. It may have been a SC term at one time, but "theorycrafting" applies almost entirely to WoW now. There is an absolutely fucking ridiculous amount of time and energy put forth by the WoW community into doing the kind of mathematical analysis and prediction commensurate with that word. It's a fucking Warcraft term.

Did I shit in someone's Cheerios by accidentally "dissing" SC's heritage? Why for hell is everyone getting their panties in a twist over some bullshit semantics? You guys can't be that bored. =p

omg, let's bitch and nitpick some more about if a term originated from one game or another. Drop it. Regardless of if he was wrong or not, it's pointless to debate for 2 damn thread pages.

There is a difference. He is supporting the theory and concept, while the non supporters are picking apart an instantiation of that concept that doesn't exist yet. ie: "they will screw it up, so it is a bad idea" is not constructive.

At least there's a few people around here who still have their heads screwed on straight.

pseudocode to allow for the scaling of gear relative to mob level, maxing at 33% of base stats @ the 10 level delta, with gear scaling being disregarded when fighting even con or higher mobs

The person I quoted said that he/she thinks your gear should be less effective against "higher level mobs because that makes sense and be be 100 against lower level mobs." Your code is the opposite.

I mis-read the original post then. The idea to decrease effectiveness against higher con mobs didn't even cross my mind as valid... there's already mechanics in the game to make that level relationship work properly.

I thought he was asking for it to be scaled down in effectiveness as you started to outlevel mobs (with no scaling if the mob is higher)... which penalizes you not for the act of leveling, but for fighting content below your level.
