Dude, he farmed all of those packs from in game drops. Spent 14 hours a day doing it too. The satisfaction he feels when he opens up his virtual card collection is huge (all those other fags just bought theirs, he actually worked for it). Get off his case.

For the many thousands of hours of time that people put into these characters, it's literally pennies per hour... no one's doing this as a legitimate source of income at this point. How much further is that market going to "crash"? I look at all the /played time I put into a character and I could never justify selling it. Maybe it's because I have a job that pays pretty well and it'd equate to less than a day or two of salary, but I don't think I even felt that way back when I was a "poor" college student in my EQ1 days.

If you want to make money, then you farm and sell plat (and even that is embarassingly bad income per hour... why not get a fuckin job and make 10x that easy and play the game for FUN instead?).

RMT is not destroying the game, it's not limiting its potential, it's not causing people to be greedy and make destructive decisions... it's just another aspect of MMO's that's been around since the introduction of the idea of virtual property. It's a bunch of Eastern European and some Asian farmers finding a way to make money in shithole countries with economies that are torn to shreds. $1/hr is good money to them.

This is also a conversation for a different thread. You didn't need to take one little parenthetical comment mixed into my discussion about player feedback and turn it into a whole spinoff. Lets get it back on track, gents. =p

It all ties together ... nitwit.

People feel their investment/money/effort is being threatend, so they feedback. Some of the responses in this thread are driven by that fact.

Also, I just want to say, when it comes to the fine art of spirited debate and forum flaming, this thread contains some of my best work. I'm considering having it framed and saved for posterity.

If I could get paid for doing this shit as a legitimate job (not just filling in time between meetings at work) I'd be a kajillionaire. <--- NOTE TO LURKING MMO HR REPS, I START AT $75K/YR AND WILL REQUIRE A SIGNIFICANT BENEFITS PACKAGE AND YEARLY PERFORMANCE BASED BONUS

True, I am a bit of a conundrum, I actually play for the enjoyment of both games and am not soley motivated by the money. I didn't farm packs, I did spend some money on packs but I also won ALOT in tournaments. I PLAY FOR THE COMPETITION. I would not have spent 1 penny on LoN and probably would not have returned to EQ2 if I did not enjoy playing the card game and the MMO. The sole reason I play is for enjoyment.

It was also terribad in terms of debate, dismissing things based on your opinion. For shame, For shame.

seems like some of yous are missing the point. There ain't nothing interesting or worthwhile to do anymore on eq2 because whatever successes you have will be useless in 7 mos. so since FF, I haven't bothered to raid or really do anything else.

Trying to find a reason to play, but haven't come up with one yet.

And it's also aggrevating that all the time and effort on the current toons will be pretty useless when you can level up a toon to 90 and have better gear a week after SF is out.

I think those are the points. By announcing gear downgrading, Eq2 has made itself irrelevant for current high end players for at least 6 mos, and has angered those who spent a lot of time building toons.

oh well.

I think this gets back to the point that you have no idea how true that statement will be until they announce more details and open it for beta. And people always feel that way when a level cap increase is going to happen, regardless of gear scaling. If you are working for high end gear, it will still make the leveling process easier when the time comes.
