But they're not willing to nerf auto-attack damage/buff CA damage, but they're willing to do this? How does this even make sense.

I don't think the dev concern here is with items that "take a lot of work to get". I believe they are very empathetic towards the amount of effort most people put into getting their mythical, for instance. That's why the unique effects on them will still be utilized in some fashion later. (I'd be fine with another long questline to just upgrade the weapon itself, but that's a design choice... and they can always change it later.)

The items that break the paradigm are things like the choker, certain avatar pieces, some of the better instanced raid loot, etc. Avatars at relatively easy, but at least take a raid force... still not enough effort required there versus the quality of some of the items that drop. Things like the choker can now be obtained solo by many classes, and would still be wanted at L90 most likely. Think about that. Grey content dropping Best in Slot items...?

Why would they need to? There will be new CAs (hopefully) balanced around what the stats are going to look like. Auto attack damage also benefits from more stats than any CA does, and to a larger degree. In regards to CA/spell damage, there shouldn't be any sort of reduction in values simply because they aren't percentage based, so there will always be room for upgrades until the cap for individual abilities, which is also something that can be balanced around when they make the new CAs for 81-90.

It has nothing to do with this system why they should nerf/buff that. It has to do with the fact that it needs to be done because of how much DPS auto-attack is for scouts and fighter classes when they shouldn't have that much. They aren't doing it because of how players will react, but they're still willing to do this considering more players would react poorly? How does that even make sense at all.

Right, and the nerfing of double attack and crit for auto attack is far more substantial than that of crit and base damage for CAs.

Or they could allow CA's to double attack / AE attack. There's plenty of ways to balance it out. Autoattack is off the charts, there is no denying that.

How does that fix anything without making scouts and fighters even more powerful in comparison to mages? This isn't about making them more powerful, it's about keeping them at the same power level they are but shifting what is more important.

Thats my point, if autoattack/poison isn't easy-mode dps anymore, they could worry about their CA order more rather than timing autoattacks.

Nerf Autoattack and boost CA's. You just have to find the right balance, but I doubt any of it will happen anyways.

It all started with GDoH, and went downhill from there.
