Niber, please go ahead and set up a "SoE Official Announcements" Section, in the spot where the Game Updates used to go when we had the RSS feed.
Give everyone in the "SoE user group" exclusive mod rights in that section only, and make it so only they can post there, so it will be for their announcements only.
Then if they want, they can post announcements, without having to worry about anyone replying to those announcement threads in an undesireable way. Players could still talk about and start threads about those threads in other sections, just not in that section in the form of a reply to what gets posted there.
Just an experiment, y'all don't need to use it if you don't want, we'll take it down if you don't, no harm either way.

Speaking of RSS feeds,
Are sony forums still preventing you from copying their Dev Tracker to this site. I only ask, because while my work server blocks the official site (no loss there) I can access this site.

Yes, their new forum software doesn't support RSS feeds.. still. Although they did say it was something they hoped to remedy soon.

Might I suggest taking the "official" out. Make it a place where the SOE folks can also post things to which they want to draw attention but do not neccessarily rise to the status of "official." I would also leave it up for quite some time before deeming it a failure. Give its cherry a chance to get popped (taking bets on who btw  ), and for the devs to get comfortable with the idea. Might take some time, but I think it would be worthwhile.
If it is somehow perceived as a duplicate of a board on the official forums I don't think it will get used much. |

I agree, and thank you for the suggestion.
Edit: changed, henceforth, announcements need not be official, they can be anything a white-named person wants to say, formally or informally.
