Default Does the future of EQ2 brighter recently?

Look, I'm not trying to make a rah rah post. But I do think the Senior Producer of EQ2 and others at SoE should know if we think they are headed in the right direction, based on recent improvements and better communication.

I realize my view of things may be biased because it is only based on my personal experience, which differs from your own, but it sure seems to me like EQ2 is on a major, positive upswing from just a few months ago.

To me, a couple of months ago, things seemed the worst ever. Since then, devs have begun communicating more, stuff really and truly seems to be getting fixed, and a number of major problems from the past like itemization appear to be finally getting resolved. I played the new Unrest zone the other night for the first time, and my impression was that was one of the more clean, polished, and just professionally detailed zones I've seen in EQ2 yet.

So, I think it is important for us to say we appreciate things and think EQ2 is headed in the right direction now, if that is the truth. But the truth is the truth. So please pick the poll choice above that you most agree with, and as always, feel free to express your dissatisfaction if you feel that is more appropriate than extending your appreciation for the recent positive changes.

I'm making this a public poll so that we can all see if the poll results are being skewed by the usual cast of Eq2 haters and WoW players.

Thank you

im going to say no change. the improvements in itemization have been cancelled out by the weakness in epic-quest and contested design.

Once they add a tier, they lose everything they gained.

I agree.

Anyway, I voted no change since the game is the same for me now as it was three months ago. I might change my mind if they were to fix the set bonuses on the EoF Fabled Conjurer set.

The game has definitely improved, now the trick is taking what they've learned and applying it to the next expansion.

Like Illuminator said, the hardest part is going to be when they add a tier and have to replace most the existing raid content as well as the KoS and FD content that a lot of smaller (casual) guilds enjoy.

Looking on it as a whole, the lower level revamps to appease lower levels, new itemization, and really, with 6-8 months left until Kunark, I believe that expansion will be fucking insane awesome. 25-30 contesteds, levels 65-80 expansion, tons of dungeons and quests. Great gear. Yeah, I finally believe an expansion is gonna pull it out, and I'm basing that on the last few months.

The game is great now, but the future I'm not so sure about. They have spent a great deal back pedaling and redoing a lot of how this expansion was when it came out, granted they have done an good job of it, just maybe too good.... A lot of this loot is now OMG good compared to anything in the past, it could pretty much break the whole game if they aren't super careful with the progression to a higher tier, and they have a huge amount of content to come up with too.

As of now I'll hope for the best and vote that the future is gonna be better, as the dev's have made great strides thus far, hopefully they can roll with this momentum and keep it goin.

I think that anyone that plays Vanguard for any period of time will think that EQ2s future looks bright in comparison

The only thing that looks brighter to me is the fact that there is a new items person who seems to genuinely know what they are doing and be willing to make improvements to old systems.

Otherwise the game is still the same. One need only look at the annoying new epic questlline to realize things are the same as ever.

No, it hasn't changed at all.

I personally don't see how you guys have played so long on the PvE servers to begin with, there isn't enough content to make people un-bored after just less than a year in the game~

I think this expansion made great advances to solving many of the balance issues we have had to deal with in all the previous expansions. Things are in a much greater state of equilibrium now and hopefully they will be able to refine it even better come future updates. The upgrades to the loot has been very well implemented, some might say the loot may be too good, that will depend entirely on the next tiers itemization. At least for the moment we can feel reasonably good about the items we acquire.

Unrest is very well done zone, fun and reasonably challenging for most people, some of the items that drop in there I think may be a little powerful for a group zone, however I think its important that the more casual players can feel like they are able to progress with new equipment without having to go away from their causal playstyle.

The raiding in this expansion is meh. While the zones are very unique individually (no cut and pasting stuff as much as we saw in KoS) the progression of raids is still fairly undefined. Inner Sanctum still seems fairly trivial considering its supposed to be final step in the instance progression, especially now with the fixes to the lag. Those were excellent fixes, but they left something to be desired behind and it would be nice if the instance progression could be brought into line. Its getting closer, but still not quite there.

The GMs seem more active to me, I actually get a response within the day I petitioned rather than several days later and they seem to be much more willing to offer assistance than they have in the past. That is probably not the same experience for everyone, but something I see as a good sign. Fixes to some bugs do seem to come faster, but then again there is a lot that still needs work. One thing I hate is when updates go in and there are no notes to go with them. I think its unfair to the playerbase to fix something without alerting them of the intention to fix it. Less of an unpleasant suprise that way.

Overall I think this is the best expansion yet and hopefully they can continue in this direction. We need some more content in soon though, the next expansion is a long way off yet and we are going to start running out of things to do if we havent already.
