The best games of all time don't look too good by today's standards, but gameplay > aesthetics.

Now that we can enter a trial zone (the one in GFay), you should do it there!

Re: Live Update 34 Preview
I think the entire SWG player base is on this forum, because I could never find anyone who played, but suddenly, everyone here bitches about how it went down the shitter.

Re: Live Update 34 Preview
SWG started in the shitter and went further down the shitter. There were something like nine types of armor that were supposed to be customizable and all useful, there was exactly one type of armor that was actually useful. There were lots of every kind of weapon, in the end only a small handful were useful, some for PvE and one type for PvP to exploit the one possible weakness in the one type of armor that everyone was wearing. There were buffs that became so out of control that they absolutely trivialized every type of PvE and were 100% necessary for any type of PvP. It took something like two years, maybe three years, to fix it so that you would not randomly warp when you were sitting down. The worlds were lifeless wastelands of randomly generated spawns. There was almost zero motivation to PvP or PvE. A new FotM came out every month that was a nearly unbeatable strategy, from dizzy/KD to 99% avoidance to crazy AE combat medic poison spam. The PvP was bursts of quick action followed by a half hour of downtime while you searched to replace the buffs and food that cancelled on death but still had a long timer on it.
They had the shell of a good system which kept people playing in hopes that they'd repair it. Instead they changed the combat mechanics one time to make it more level based, then took everyone's money for an expansion and a day later completely shattered everything that was unique about it to really make it into a level and class-based Everquest in space. Their only long-term subscribers who had spent years faithful to this ridiculously buggy and incomplete game were rewarded with what essentially amounts to a scam to take their money followed by a character raping.
That's why feelings run high about SWG :P

I'm starting to think EQ > all after all this time.
Name me a game that has more raiding or more content... there is none.

Well, of course EQ1 has more raiding and more content, it's been out longer.
