Can someone explain to me why it's against the rules again?

lol they will now!

So, if you link to a blog that gripes about SOE that would be against forum rules as well, yes? What if you link to your site and you have a (gasp) swearword there...since swearwords are filtered by SOE's forums... What about Moorguard who used to gripe up a storm about the game on his own blog?

You can't muzzle people from saying negative things about the game or the site, and the more you restrict them from doing so, the more dissention you create. This is getting ridiculous, and embarassing to see.

Further, why on earth would a link to eq2flames be a bad thing for SOE's forums? Sure, there's bitching about the game, but that goes on IN game as well - are you going to police private tells and guild chats? Lay claim to ventrilo and ban people who verbally bitch? Speaking of, what if someone posted their own vent information?

All the flaming and bickering you want to keep off SOE forums now has a place to go. Keeps your forums happy and serene...or whatever...and these forums busy with the boom of potato cannons. Muzzling it just draws more anger towards you (moderator) and creates more subversive tactics on your forums. Seems logical to let it go and say yes, go flame there! Rather than trying to censor where people find their outlet.

This forum isn't for everyone. There'll be a lot of people who check it out, find themselves turned off, and head back to the main forums. Others, will think it's perfect. Let things sort themselves out.

The URL does not break SOE's code of conduct in any way. The site itself may, but it's a seperate entity and not advertising itself to be SOE or a spokesman for SOE.

But hey, don't mind me, police as you will.

You can't link it there because they say you can't. They own those forums, they make the rules.

No one has any "rights" over there at all.

That is how it works when somebody owns something and lets other people use it.

Its just like this forum, its pretty FFA but LFG still has rules. Why? Because he can.

Who was talking about rights? I was talking about common sense. But you're right. If they opt not to use it, it's not my problem.

They don't want direct links. I've been saying that all day. They are going to be cracking down harder than ever. Just don't do it if you value your eq2players account at all. Be sly about it. Hint about this site, even mention it by "name" (The flame forum) and if someone is interested enough, they'll ask you. Or be like me, have it within your eq2 players in-game profile, then make your sig link to that.

But just don't directly link to it. Stop trying to advertise it. Stop saying they suck, everyone should come here.

There's no reason to continue stiring the shit, its been stirred enough.

My cock just got hard reading that. :smiley-very-happy:

But it's the truth. Past experience has shown that it's their bat and their ball, and they make the rules.

My cock just got hard reading that Ship's cock just got hard.

SOE makes the rules, and you agree to their rules everytime you pay them and every time you sign in. Its a really simple solution - Don't want to be moderated? Don't wanna be "silenced by the man", don't wanna be subject to their rules and regulations?

Don't sign in.

It's the truth. But it still bites. The ability to do something should not grant that it is right to do it. In my opinion of course.
