I just looked back at it on the official boards and Kedricke never claims it either. That actually made it even more annoying to me since, in that respect it shouldn't even count as community news. It's not funny/entertaining,not really informative(especially since it lacks a link to the original interview) and all it is is his opinion. It's more like a personal blog entry than anything else.

It shouldn't have gone up but I have to give him credit for amending it instead of leaving it as is.

First rule of good PR is to know your audience. The average EQ2 player isn't stupid and can smell BS. It's easy to try too hard to make something sound appealing and spin it too far.

He called it an interview when he originally posted it. He got called out so hard for it, though, that he had to go back and amend his original post to reflect that it was based on an interview.

This was in no way community news and really should never have been posted.

I'd hazard a guess that the community would rather read the actual interview than an article with someone's interpretation of what Scott said in the interview.

Thus, it would have been smarter to simply link the interview in WC's news section and point us towards that in the Community News forum.

Is there a link to the "interview" at all? Anywhere?

Interview with Scott Hartsman

Is this how interviews are supposed to go?
I read that and I just don't think Scott talks like that at all - Scott Hartsman would never say "polish polish polish" lol, I just don't see any of those words attributed to him coming out of his mouth.

I call BS on this entire thing -- there are only 4 quotes in the interview attributed to Hartsman. The rest of the "interview" is the author's writing. C'mon, interviews have more quotes than this, this wasn't any interview, this was an article written based on what the author wanted to say, with some "quotes" attributed to Scott spliced in.

Has the author ever even met Scott Hartsman face to face, or talked to him on the phone, or received back a list of interview questions by email that Scott typed answers to? Ever one time?

I'd bet 50 plat payable on Kith the answer to that question is "no".

Here's the current header from Warcry unmistakably claiming this to be an interview:

EverQuest II is a blockbuster MMO with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. It's the crown jewel of a company that has more MMOs than any other company on the planet. Yet, to many, it is also the other MMO to launch in late 2004. We recently interviewed Executive Producer Scott Hartsman about the lessons they've learned and where they're going with this project.

Warcry is still falsely claiming that bogus article is an interview on their website.

I have low expectations of them to begin with, but I guess I never figured they would resort to lying about what they publish.

No matter what the WarCry editors say, Dana still clearly said "Based on an interview" in her article.

I found it a rather enjoyable read, but I love to read BS. Released next to the King of Polish? WoW was a godsend? Still trying to figure out where they pulled the PS3 part from. Magically out of their ass is the only answer I can figure out.

I interviewed Onimaro!! To be completely honest, it wasn't even a real interview, but I made it real because I'm cool and creative. I sent Oni an email and asked him ten questions. I took the answers and 'made-up' an interview from it. What Kendricke has done in this warcry item is blasphema and does nothing but tarnish our friend Mr. Hartsman.

Onimaro Interview HERE!!!!

Yes yes yes, I know I've not got the pictures up yet Oni. Please stop sending candy and flowers to my house, I'll get them up when I get a spare moment. Sheesh!!
