Re: An Interview?
Thank you for posting this. I was going to hit it on the official forums but decided against unneeded headache. The article is all about the author's spin and interpretation, while that's fine, it should not be sold billed as an interview and certainly not when it has snide comments in it like the one about Vanguard;since we lack the actually interview in an easy to find link,we're hard pressed to see if Mr. Hartsman said it himself, it's hard to say. I'm fond of neither Kendricke(both his posts or self-gratifying/serving articles) nor Warcry so it's just not worth it to me to dig but since Mr. Hartsman has always been good I give him the benefit of thinking he wouldn't be a dick to fellow publishers.
I see two other major flaws in that "interview". One is that he says that EQ2 was not a terrible game at launch. EQ2 hooked me from the boat at launch (and I only played a necro until LU 19) but to deny that the game was terrible...that's just blinding yourself. EQ2 sold itself as what WoW launched as- a game friendly to those who didn't want to/weren't able to commit to like they had to in EQ. Forget all the bugs, horrible mechanics and and just focus on the aspect of gameplay direction and you still come up with EQ2 not being what they tried to sell at all.
Oh, and Playboy interviews used to be some of the greatest.
