Default An Interview?

I'm fairly biased against WarCry so I always like to find out what other people think because people here actually read.

Was this a real interview? Did they even really talk to him?

Interview with Scott Hartsman

Is this how interviews are supposed to go?

Hartsman went so far as to say that EverQuest II is actually geared towards solo players.
This was my favorite part of this "interview."

No. sounds like it was pieced together from a press release and had a 'exclusive' Label slapped on it.

Which reminds me...

WarCry if you guys don't start using the word "exclusive" correctly I'm going to copyright it and retire.

An interview is supposed to be centered on the person you're interviewing, not your spin on what he's saying. This is not freshman composition class; spinning direct quotes into wordy paragraphs does not get you extra credit. And it should optimally provide more depth than the back of the box.

Where's the interview? All I'm seeing is comments based upon an interview with a person but no actual interview.

Thank you for posting this. I was going to hit it on the official forums but decided against unneeded headache. The article is all about the author's spin and interpretation, while that's fine, it should not be sold billed as an interview and certainly not when it has snide comments in it like the one about Vanguard;since we lack the actually interview in an easy to find link,we're hard pressed to see if Mr. Hartsman said it himself, it's hard to say. I'm fond of neither Kendricke(both his posts or self-gratifying/serving articles) nor Warcry so it's just not worth it to me to dig but since Mr. Hartsman has always been good I give him the benefit of thinking he wouldn't be a dick to fellow publishers.

I see two other major flaws in that "interview". One is that he says that EQ2 was not a terrible game at launch. EQ2 hooked me from the boat at launch (and I only played a necro until LU 19) but to deny that the game was terrible...that's just blinding yourself. EQ2 sold itself as what WoW launched as- a game friendly to those who didn't want to/weren't able to commit to like they had to in EQ. Forget all the bugs, horrible mechanics and and just focus on the aspect of gameplay direction and you still come up with EQ2 not being what they tried to sell at all.

Oh, and Playboy interviews used to be some of the greatest.

The article itself actually doesn't claim to be an interview but "based on an interview." The site mistakenly labels it as such, though.
