I'd rather just kill shit without the questing or running around doing odd jobs.

EQ2 was a better game at launch then it is now. Way more challenging and fun.

The things that most people didn't like about it at launch was the servers were down a lot if you were on a high pop server and shared xp debt. I remember some nubs would die and then try to train back to your shards so you'd disband as fast as you could heh. Good times. A lot of people didn't like some of the features that are still in the game now too, i.e. implied targeting, linked mobs, the con system, etc...

Like someone mentioned AQs were fun too. I remember doing them and it was hit and miss. Sometimes you'd get a solid group and make some real progress and other times grouping was a waste of time. Lots of fond memories of killing rats when they were red in FG, you were the shiznit if you could take them down.

They've recently changed the armor quests. I just ran though the monk AQ series and only the last one is heroic. Not a single mighty griffon needed! I did them for the AA, treasured drops from instances, and rare crafted armor both beat the rewards.

Things like Pris 1 will always lose their meaning when the level cap is increased. It is unfortunate, but a product of game expansion. I miss some things from launch, but I left the game for a while just as splitpaw came out due to running out of solo content, long camping sessions for heroic quests, and raid content where it took longer to get 24 slow zoners (for any number of reasons) to the zone-in than it did to complete the zones.

I will never remember fondly my camping of the Eye of Thule in Feerrott. Shards were awful until they let you collect them at zone doors so you could continue to play. Many times did I need to log out for 3 days because of how many shards I lost trying to retrieve the first shard.

The game is much improved in many ways.

And chicken wings rock! Gimme a beer and a bucket of wings anyday.

My fondest memories ever of playing this game pre level 70 was doing the FG AQ(2?) and having the whole group on the rats (was it scourge rats or did I make that up?) Somehow the whole idea of the AQ seemed epic, fighting your way down FG with knobs that didn't know what a body pull was, and then being forced to right click on the entrance door for your shard. I'm not sure what I'd think now, but at the time getting your AQs done meant something, and there was a challenge involved with killing those fucking rats.

And then we went to kill giants and all of a sudden levels became a blur. The game was pretty good then in it's own way. I vowed to never play EQ again after it basically ruined my life, but the eq2 launch had me hooked again, so it couldn't have been all that bad.

I spend hours on my AQ.

loved it

Personally I had fun playing EQ2 from day one. No big problems from launch whatsoever

I couldn't put my thoughts on the early days of the game any better then Arangor did.

my fondest memory of EQ2 was making the little flash-animated ratonga on the website do the dance emote. this was before i got into beta, but the animation was so good and the ratonga race quite unique... i never did EQ1, so wasn't really drawn to the EQ name. I think that rat animation was the biggest selling point for the whole game... heh.

I also loved the AQs and they did matter and getting the last one done made you feel l33t. Pretty much everyone I knew thought the the Zek / EL access quests were the best experience in the whole game too.

and finally end it once and for all?

I take a lot of screenies during guild raids/events, so someone asked me to turn on DE soga for their pictures. Now he looks like an inexperienced drag queen with smudged lipstick, the eye shadow is nice though...

SOGA... /shudder...

i guess its a matter of taste tho
