The zones are open so it's not exactly like guildwars...named mobs can be contested/cockblocked/camped within that instance, but say you need it for a quest update just go to an instance where it's not being camped. Named respawn really fast anyway so it's not much of an issue either way. But yeah, Champions doesn't have real contested content at this point because there are no specific servers or game mechanics that allow for a bottleneck/cockblock scenario.

IDK about contested content being fail, some people do like it.

Contested content ok, but not high-end, and certainly not so that 3 guilds are taking turns in pulling. No game can handle that yet. Green dragon / Saurus in KJ were fine (if you dont count the OP shield).

contesteds are a nice flavor, but they are too much of a pain in the ass. The entire society is at a state of on-demand content. Look at TV. Who watches shows when they actually come on anymore? We all DVR what we want and watch when it is convenient to us. Raiding is the same way. I want to raid when it is convenient for me, not when it is convenient for some random mob to decide to spawn. I sure as shit am not waking up at 3am to kill a contested mob.

And EVE also has had 10-12 pt font religiously. Although they are running python under the hood which is probably far more overhead than what the everquest 2 servers are running.
