SoE Accounts Hacked?
Been noticing for the last month when i log in that SoE is "asking us to be secure and change our password." Last night we had an account hacked (actually 2 from same player....same email address i believe). According to her this morn when she talked to SoE, it was confirmed it was most likely a gold seller.
I've been hearing more and more of this going on in general chat the last few weeks. Anyone know if SoE had an account hack recently?
Regarless i've asked everyone in guild to change their PWs

Re: SoE Accounts Hacked?
Gold sellers don't hack their own customers. So tell her to START using their services.

in any case i doubt its restricted to "soe accounts" and it doesnt have anything to do with "hacking", just stupidity.

This. If someone who's dumb enough to use the same password for all email and game accounts gets one phished, they will be like "AAA SOE MADE ME LOSE MY EMAILS AND MY FACEBOOKS" and throw fits.

Re: SoE Accounts Hacked?
This is happening to a lot of people at the moment, at least on nagafen I know at least 2 confirmed cases of it happened and ive heard rumors of more.
I'm pretty sure a keylogger is getting into a lot of EQ2 related sites. Keep your virus scanner up to date, so far avast has kept me safe.
My guildie got hacked twice in a week and SOE is refusing to reimburse the items, no mythical, no anything and he was the best geared illy on our server, pretty fucking lame.

Yes the account was hacked, characters gone etc. EQ support was great with getting the characters back, since I had not played they just rolled the account back.
My instincts are it was an inside SOE employee. Kind of hard to summorize tons of phone calls/emails etc. The stange thing to me was seeing weird debits and then CREDITS to the account, which no supervisor or rep could explain. I suspect a rep saw old and inactive accounts (other person had his account turned off/parked also) and went dipping into them.
The email hack was the excuse the supervisors used but that did not explain the credits and who did them to my account (no cedit card hits during that time) and they could not answer how a character went to level 50 within 18 hours. I assume a gold seller could do 50 level that fast but I am sure that if the email was hacked then they would have just changed the password and grabbed the account, which they did not do.
Just strange.

Well damn. I thought this was another case of "same password for EQ2 and Facebook and Gmail and whatever crap" again (you have no idea how many people I know IRL do this). I guess keep your anti-Internet-bad-stuff up to date like Pudaan said and you should be OK, download NoScript and WOT for Firefox for assistance, etc.

1-60 in 7 hours, ok with the friend mentor bonus, but without it, 7*3 = 21, so 50 in 18h quite realistic powerleveling
