Hehe! Yet LFG hasn't confirmed if he was told straight up that the top choice is someone from a Fan Site, or if he has figured that out himself from other information he's gotten.

And I'm not going to either. But it's still truthful and accurate.

Doesn't EQ2flames count as a fansite? It's LFG!

Not sure we can call it a "fan" site...

Holy shit. Talk about conflict of interest.

No matter which fansite it is, you could never be sure that the content on their site was honest and impartial. You could never be sure the modding and banning was done impartially. You could never be sure inside information wasn't funneled to "exclusive scoops".

Even if the guy in question "walks away" from managing his site, the odds of him still having unofficial ties to it is huge.

This seems like really bad policy to me.

I've heard the same rumor, and via my sources, it's very true. I've got a lot to say on this, starting with, it's bullshit. I don't know Tamat, he could be the greatest guy in the world, but I believe this position should have gone to Raijinn.

No one should have to train their own boss.

Well, I'm a fan, and this is my site about EQ2. And I know that some of the people using this site are among the most hardcore of all EQ2 fans. So I think it's a fan site :smiley-happy:

I agree it isn't a traditional sort of fan site. I see this fan site as more like real time reality TV, and not like the regular type that provides content and official interviews and that type of info.

LFG was my first guess, Feltrak was my second because of his geocities site, and I had to rule out Sepentius for a close third because that would just be ridiculous.

I don't think it's all that bad, or at least, as I have seen, in the past this hasn't been a problem in the past.

Both moorgard and blackguard came from fansites (mobhunter and eqii.com respectivly).

Besides, for what it's worth, and take from experience, SOE is very, VERY good at making sure what gets out is done through PR not community relations, two entirely seperate teams. Nothing official that gets published goes into print without being signed off by them.

Sure, there might be some unofficial stuff, but then again we all get some of that from time to time. I have been pretty clear on my concerns about conflicts of interest, and I have said I'm willing to accept any good faith acts by a company to prevent it.

In regards to this sort of thing, my experience with SOE has been positive, thus I am not overly concerned.
