I agree with this, IMO Raijinn should have gotten the position. I don't know Tamat personally, but if I had to choose a "fan site guy" I would (like others) choose Radar.

I agree with everything LFG says. If Tamat has had long involvement with a website that unabashedly promotes IGE, then Tamat can suck my dick. I don't give a flying fuck if he's the next best thing to the Second Coming; his double-penetration in the ass by the Chinese plat pharmers puts him at odds with the core ethics of the game.

Perhaps, but how do you know he actually wants the job? I, for one, am qualified to take a higher paying position at my company, but I'll be damned if I want to take on that headache.

It's worse than just Ogaming unabashedly promoting IGE. There was a big "expose`" post on the SoE forums some time back by someone proving that IGE owned Ogaming, or at least that Ogaming had the same owner as other IGE companies. I assume that under the current "blacklisting" rules on the SoE forums, nobody would be allowed to start that type of post anymore, which I consider to be a shame.

Because that post was interesting as hell, and resulted in some MMO sites outside EQ2 running articles on it as well and basically coming to the same conclusion that IGE and Ogaming were indeed directly linked by a common owner.

In the ensuing uproar, Ogaming and Tamat steadfastly maintained that Ogaming was "not IGE." This was always merely twisting words IMO. It is true Ogaming is "not IGE", and nobody ever claimed it was. What was proven by the articles beyond a reasonable doubt IMO, was that the very same person or entity that owned IGE also owned Ogaming. So while technically Ogaming was "not IGE", in fact it and IGE were both umbrella companies owned by the same parent.

If anyone wants to dig out all those links and post them I would appreciate it. Hopefully the source materials still exists on the SoE forums.

The point at issue is how can SoE consider a current IGE insider for the key position held by Blackguard on one hand, and then claim to oppose plat farmers/sellers on the other. It all makes things look fishy as hell, it is a classic example of "appearance of impropriety."

Does Raijinn even want the job? Mayhap SOE asked him to take it and he refused. Maybe he wants to be doing something else, or is happy where he is. But if anyone out there cares, I want Raijinn to take the job. I think he's perfect for it. In fact I would hope they'd make him do it because there is really no one better.

I'll echo many of the other people here: whether the individual was a monkey or a genius, there is absolutely no way they should even be considering an IGE employee for this type of position. I'm calling bullshit right now.

Your first link actually points to a post I made (I post on SoE forums as Ixnay) defending Ogaming. The reason I defended Ogaming in that thread was because it became impossible to mention Ogaming on the forums without someone calling them IGE. My point in that thread was to say that even if Ogaming was owned by IGE, that didn't have anything to do with the topic of the thread, which involved incredibly annoying ads Ogaming had on its site that interfered with people's use and enjoyment of the site.

I don't care whether anyone accuses me of being a hypocrite for saying what I said in that linked thread and saying what I'm saying here and now. My point in the SoE thread was to say, even if its true that IGE owns Ogaming, Ogaming still has a ton of useful info on its site that isn't available anywhere else on the Internet, and I would rather pay an annual fee to access that info than to have to click through plat selling ads and some of the worst ads on any fan site to access that info. My bottom line point was, if it takes ten times as long to do a quest without a spoiler vs. with one, and if Ogaming is the only site with that spoiler, I'm still going to use Ogaming to get the info because I'm not willing to waste so many extra hours of my life doing quests the hard way.

That is a different issue than the present, which involves whether SoE should hire someone who operates a company owned by the same company that owns IGE.

I know it was you who posted that but the link was from a search and the post that quoted your reply simply was the result of my search. In fact it was the only hit from the search - just type "ogaming tamat ige" without the quotes into the eq2 forums search box and you'll only get that link.

So I didn't mean to imply anything by it but thanks for the explanation - there was some irony there.

Edit: OK I would not be surprised if someone made a post on the boards with those words just to screw that up...
