With WoW you basically have 3 classes in 1, and divided up by the Talent System. Thus you get 21 classes, whereas EQ2 has 24 classes, and then the AA system on top of that to improve the class slightly, not to define the class which is what the Talent System does.

This is why you think that the AA system is horrible, while the Talent System is far superior. It's too bad they are 2 different things and aren't comparable.
This is 100% accurate... the AA system in eq2 is not a "defining" system as much as it is an "advancement" system. WoW's characters are defined by the "spec" they choose where as eq2 classes cannot ultimatly be altered by the AA spec you choose

There's your answer, pretty much.

I do agree the Talent system is awesome, and simply by respeccing a class you almost completely change it...
...But aren't like that.

Also, Talent points come "free" with levels, while in EQ2 it's theoretically possible to be lvl 80 with 20 AAs...

I agree with the OP that the first attribute in each line is stupid and pointless. The STR is a wasted 4 points to get the extra spell crit for summoners. But like others said, it is very different than WoW's system and they can't be compared. I think the AAs are very well done in an overall sense because they allow people to apply abilities to their playstyle. A raider is going to have a very different spec than someone that solos most of the time.

At least I wasn't. I was raging about the OP, not WoW itself.

EQ2 achievements aren't the best, obviously, since there are only a few reasonable builds for each tree, and sometimes even only one. I wished they'd go over them and make the undesirable more desirable. Don't even touch the good ones everybody and his German shephard pick - just boost the ones nobody picks.

Spec your Paladin down the WIS line. It's full of win!
