Better yet, go leader-only and do all the rolls for the group members. In private, of course. Results of the dice roles can then be conveyed to the group members.

"Looks like I won again. Damn, I have the hot dice."

The one time I did that, I actually won the one item I was after... then I kinda felt like shit for the guy who lost it =( But oh well, he agreed before we even started that I could roll on it!

Well I'm rolling on items for alts but only if present chars have better stuff equipped.. master are different. I only roll with need for them if they are for the class I'm currently running in the group.

I agree that the change has brought out the loot whore in people but damn if it hasn't made life easier on raids when something is going to an alt instead of rotting or getting muted.

In heroic content I'm not a fan of anyone "needing" for an alt, unless it's discussed at each drop (there is a decline button, after all. rational discussion can result in the item ending up on an alt without any real difficulty) and only for heirloom items (IE no masters. You want a master for a class that isn't there, pay the winner). I also don't like the changing of loot rules whenever someone sees an exquisite.

The loot rules should be established at the beginning of the zone by the group. Whatever the rules are, they should persist based on the rules at the time of the appearance of the chest, not the opening of the chest. There were several complaints in (70-79) this weekend over the lead changing loot rules, looting the exquisite and scampering off.

Finally, the NEED button should be grayed out for anone who has the collection item flagged as collected in their journal. Also if the item doesn't apply to your class/level.
