Default Re: Server enhancements? B.S.!

We did MIS last night and the lag was horrbile. (Server:Valor)
Apart from lagspikes of 3-5 Seconds once or twice every damned fight it also felt like the charm and delevel patch wasn't there anymore.
E.g. before that charm/delvl-Patch charm lag with D'liztas was about 5 to 10 seconds.
After that charmpatch it was about 1 to 3 seconds.
Now it's about 5+ seconds again.

I don't ecaxtly consider it fun when write "/r NOW BURN!", this message shows up about 3 seconds later and the ca i clicked right after typing the above still hasn't even started to cast.

I just wanted to use this moment to state Glaptor(sp) down.

Who knows. Maybe this pet hide thing in conjunction with the warg graphics are messing something up. I think I might have noticed that rendering was a bit worse in town, particularly QH. But, to be honest, I didn't experience any lag out of the ordinary I don't believe on Blackburrow. What's sad though is that ordinary lag is expected. It seems like problems circle in and out and re-appear. Version control is serious business and with multiple people storing code in thier own personal eclipse or whatever environement its so easy to re-introduce problems over and over.

Lag in Mistmoore Castle was awful last night, even when it was just our guild there. Whhen tanother guild came in to zone in the MMIS, it was unplayable. Contested Mayong was a nightmare to work with, because the tank was insta-killed at lags. CAs were going from instant cast to 5 second lags. Definitely a step back this patch.

Postulate: What if the lag people are seeing isn't necessarily a function of the game but of the internet in general?

I play several different games, on several different PCs. I have noticed that the amount of lag in all games has risen to noticable levels in the last 3 to 6 months. It can't all be a coding thing, and even if it was, it wouldn't be as wide spread as I have seen it.

Could it be that the internet backbone is having issues? More users, more data, etc? I don't know the answer. I'm just asking the question, and asking if its maybe not necessarily the game.

I know this is probably not related to specific raid lag. And is a more general question.

You are a little far out on the limb; I'm tossing you this rope - catch it and come back toward me.

While technically possible, I have to believe backbone providers monitor their services like hawks for capacity/latency. I get great speeds to east coast servers any time of the day and still run into the aforementioned issues:

$ ping crushbone.everquest2.com
PING ableq2-03-01.everquest2.com (199.108.202.97) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 199.108.202.97: icmp_seq=1 ttl=49 time=23.0 ms
64 bytes from 199.108.202.97: icmp_seq=2 ttl=49 time=22.9 ms
64 bytes from 199.108.202.97: icmp_seq=3 ttl=49 time=21.4 ms
64 bytes from 199.108.202.97: icmp_seq=4 ttl=49 time=21.3 ms
