I don't have time for lore, i'm too busy keeping an eye for someone to whack around the head with my candy cane.

because you see them every time you enter those zones
and it takes a while to load which means foreground focus of eq2 lost, new directx surface created just to show the cinematic and there is no opt-in
once seen they should be disabled by default

Re: This is what's wrong with EQ2 lore
To me, its a combination of the cut scenes not actually having any meaning to them, and the fact that they remove me from my character.
As far as I am concerned, I have no business in game seeing anything that my character does not see. I have no business knowing anything that my character would not know. While the cut scenes were all pretty and new and stuff, they serve no purpose, they tell no story.
While I do not want to be removed from my character in order for a story to progress, I want even less to be removed from my character for no reason.
In order for them to add a cut scene to the game that my character would be able to see, they would have no reason to remove me from my normal view point.

I hate them because they:
A) Suck. Seriously, a camera floating around the zone? whoopty fucking do. The WoE was ok the first time, but NHT and PoF ones SUCK!
B) Are buggy. Having run NHT a hundred times to try and get that stupid ring about a dozen times zoning into the instance would totally bug out, because of the video. Sometimes it would bug out to the point that it would either freeze the game up or just shut the game down. And no, its not my system it did it to every member in the group (and we actually used 6 ppl for this particular run).
C) Like previously mentioned they can't be turned off.

Re: This is what's wrong with EQ2 lore
I hate them because I'm usually in the middle of editing my macros for the new group, or putting my poisons on my hotbar or something like that. And they fucking take me away from my character. There at least needs to be a flag we can set to determine if we'll see the cutscene from each zone.
And I reiterate, cut scenes suck balls.

I was just commenting on this last night while running SoL, I wanted to know the story but the quest dialogues were so long winded I just said fuck it and skipped through all the bullshit. About the only quests I read are ones that are short or are major story arcs, the majority of which are much more tedious to read than they ought to be.
