Re: Best Red Name
heh feldon pwns!
My mind begins to wander with the possibilities of what could be done with tradeskilling and raids .... we end up at something that resembles what we have seen before. Raid mobs dropping tradeskilling rares or tradeskilling classes being required to make set/class armor. Will we see a return of this methodology?
TSO tried to find a middle ground with the way shard armor could be made for less shards but did that really work out well for everyone?

Re: Best Red Name
That would be fine with me if it required tradeskillers to make set gear. Chances are the gear would be better if that were the case. Adding an extra requirement to obtain the gear should result in better gear.

Re: Best Red Name
I sure as hell hope set bonuses are dead. Fucking stupid to have everyone running around with the same gear in over half their slots

Is the problem set gear existing or set gear being an entitlement?

Re: Best Red Name
The problem is set gear making it impossible for developers to come up with alternative items for 7 of our slots.
Add in set bonuses like Ward of Elements jewelry 3-piece sets, Avatar Charm 2-piece sets, and pretty soon, there is nothing EQ2 devs can design that anyone will want unless it's beastmode.
Once you have your 7 pieces of primary T4 armor, you won't even dream of replacing it except with avatar gear. The folks who can clear Miragul's Shard have no need for any of the items that drop there except jewelry.

Re: Best Red Name
My problem is pretty much what I said. Stupid when you have everyone running around in the same gear (or as much as they can get) because the set bonuses are too powerful to give up. Why make any boots/chests/gloves/legs/shoulders/forearms/helmets other than the set pieces? Oh yeah, you need something for your appearance slots cause the set pieces look like shit.
Plus, i've always hated set gear in any game I've played.

Yeah but that's an itemization issue and it's always there unless you're taking the long way to say entitlement. If there is any piece of gear that is far and away the best in slot, people will all wear it,it doesn't matter if it's set gear or avatar gear or some other just really good drop.

I've never had an issue with set gear in the games that I played because it was usually done better. I actually like the concept of set gear but I never imagined it would become an entitlement. Your complaint seems to be more against it being an entitlement than just the fact that it exists. Would your opinion change if it were actually rare?
