Wheeling out the big guns now. I'm sure Sylvan will change his ways in light of this.

I think what Sylvan is trying to say is... LoN loot shouldn't affect gameplay. But now that it does, which SOE dev team is responsible for that? My guess is SOE SD.

What do you mean NOW that it does? LoN loot has ALWAYS affected gameplay. The first set affected gameplay far more than anything that has come out since. If anything, LoN loot cards affect gameplay much much less now than ever before.

I guess you're right. But how far are they going to take the idea of needing a loot card to access special 'instanced encounters?' I don't think it was the loot that made it controversial so much as the concept behind it.

As much as I hae the LoN loot card thing, I am pretty much resigned to the fact that they are going to be in the game. To that regard, I think they are missing out on a potential revenue source. My suggestion is that for every new account created, on old account reactiviated, the person gets 10 free packs, instead of the usual 5. That essentially means you are getting 2 for the price of one boosters. I know you can't trade the loot cards, but you can claim them by any toon. So SoE ecnourages people to open/renew accounts on the off chance a loot card shows up maybe someone will pay the $25 x 2 to transfer accounts, claim the key, then transfer back. Plus, there will be some people who re-open accounts, or even create them, for the sole reason of getting boosters but let them go one or more billing cycles.

I'm sure that there are meetings between SD and Denver. Denver obviously pushes for cooler shit and items that would impact gameplay, such as the new instance. If items are more desired, it will impact their sales. I'm sure SD has to moderate their requests and tell them no a lot.

In terms of revenue distribution, I would guess that SD gets a chunk of any booster sold that provides an EQ2 loot card. IMO, that would be the only way to get both teams motivated to want in game items. But I could be way off.
