Who can hold aggro?

I said recently in the 70's chat, that the tank best able to hold aggro at the moment is Paladin. I then went on to be flamed out the ass.

From everything I've seen in the past 5 years I've played this game, I stand by my statement. It hasn't always been that way, but right now it is.

Am I wrong? If so, which tank is king of aggro?

Aye. The best tank on aggro is kinda much pally > SK > Zerk > Guard. not counting brawlers here since i never played one.

I disagree....a Pally is only > than SK IF they have a high dps class to put amends on. Without a Wizard or Assassin to Amend....SK > Pally any day.

It's really moot, since the gains are negligible except when referring to AE vs single target agro, and even then, any decently geared plate tank played by someone competent can fill the role.

The only real challenge with agro comes from Brawlers, and even they can tank anything in the game with the right gear, player, and guild.

I'm taking amends into account. I don't know why you wouldn't have a high dps with you. If there isn't one, you amends the person doing the most anyway. If there's no high dps then holding aggro shouldn't be that much of a problem anyway for any tank.

My raid force usually has the Paladin as the MT. With amends on one of our top DPS, we never run into aggro problems. If we switch it up to any other class, it doesn't run as smooth.

Even in single groups, alot of tanks will have problems at times with aggro, where a Paladin holds it consistantly. Unless I'm grouped with the most horrible Paladin on the server, it seems that the only time I see one lose aggro is if he/she dies.

the tank with the best agro is the one with the best overall dps potential, the trak shield can mitigate a paladins advantage with amends, but a paladin would have a difficult time keeping up with the single target agro of an SK, Berserker or Guardian, for a paladin, theres just too many things to focus on, being int, wisdom, str, spell crit, spell damage bonus, melee crit ect, a berserker or guardian doenst even need to consider int or wisdom, only double attack and melee crit, because all of their attacks are melee based.

not to mention that berserkers get alot of nice temp buffs to improve their auto attack.

if given the same gear quality, trak shield and skill, id give berserkers the edge over everyone else.

Pretty sure pally > sk even w/o amends for snap aggro.

All things aside hate xfer/gain most tanks shouldnt have issues.

Brawlers have to work a bit harder though.
