Well I put "instanced" in quotes, meaning its not the same definition we use in game, but in a way, everyone does life in their own self-contained way. And really, we all do the same thing at different times in different ways. Most people work, but everyone works different jobs with different people doing different things. Most people have a family, but all families are different. Sure, there is some "contested content" like traffic and Holiday shopping (lol) but really most people lead fairly similar lives as far as what occupies most of our time (work/school/family).

Yeah, but your company is competing against a hundred other companies for jobs. You are competing against other applicants to even get the job. At best you have your job on lockdown, but if you slack, someone else will come along and take it. Same could be said for your wife or girlfriend, even though you hope people will be respectful enough not to steal those.

There is only one contested twinkie, this morning me and 17 guys where standing around in the 7-11, stock boy puts it out there and BAM, fucking brawl, place burns down, 5 people go the hospital and the rest to jail.

Fucking cops got the twinkie and they weren't even camping the spawn.

What Arguile said, just fucking stop it with the RL to eq2 analogies.

The Haves vs the Have nots, flames is majority haves, game is majority have nots. Whether you like it or not contesteds are being phased out.

True competition is good times, it can be instanced(firsts) or contested. The difficulty of the mob plays a huge part in the sense of accomplishment. Taking a contested from another guild thats been on farm for 6 months isnt nearly as fun as firsting a mob on a ww level. It goes both ways.

I prefer instanced mobs. I don't think contested brings a whole lot of competition. Pre avatar gear nerf, there was only one guild on butcherblock that was killing avatars (DA). Now, Death Proof is killing some, but there still isn't a lot of comptetion. I don't think it is necessary to put the best gear in the loot tables of contesteds to make the game interesting.

butcherblock is just a bad example to use man. there was a time when 2 guilds at every contested was normal, sometimes 3, and even occasionally 4.

look at unrest, aren't there 3 (or is it 4?) guilds chasing avatars now, post-nerf?

bb just .. died or something, i dunno. we're probably last on the instance list too.

(merge butcherblock & unrest thx!)

DP killed one avatar, Tranq about 3 weeks ago, they havent had a pull on an avatar since then.

my bad. Just going off a friend in the guild and he might have been exaggerating about their avatar activity. BB might be a bad example, but I think the desire for contested mobs is just slowing dieing. People prefer to raid on their own schedule instead of SOE's.

I don't think they should ever limit it to one or the other so they can appease all raiders, but I think instances will always be more popular.
