Default Free trial vs Activating old account

So I jumped into the free trial offered and was playing around and it's got me thinking.

Why would I activate my old EQ 2 account from 2005 when I could just keep this one and not have to buy all the expansions it includes.

If you activate an old account do they hook you up with everything a trial that's upgraded gets or would I be spending quite a bit to be brought current.

I know there is the matter of the veterans awards but meh..I dunno if it's worth it.

Thanks for anyone that can answer, can't post on sony forums cause my account isnt active of course.

the old acct will get vet rewards. the new one will get a stupid quest to get to level 20 in a month or some shit. id say keep the old one, and buy the new eq2 all in one thats coming out, or just came out, or whatever. you get all xpacs for 30.

TSO just dropped to $20.
The EQ2 Complete Collection is $30.

TSO = The EQ2 Complete Collection - any "in-game" items that the complete collection has.

The whole point of the Collector's Edition, which is $20, not $30, is a huge retail push to get EQ2 back on shelves.

Also, the trial accounts (unless they are different from the RAF accounts) don't include TSO, so you would have to buy TSO separately and since it includes all expansions anyway, you don't gain anything on that part.

So it's really just veteran rewards vs RAF-rewards.

Huge as in SOE huge? That won't do anything. I think there were six copies of EQ2 at stores I saw at launch, while WoW was sold out but their display racks and signage were still everywhere.

You'd think a company as big as Sony would have marketing people that could at least help SOE out a tiny bit to figure out how to get attention.

Meanwhile, this ad's running and the mohawk grenade's already in game: YouTube - World of Warcraft: Mr. T Commercial - Mohawk Grenade

EQ2 started out with Heather Graham and Christopher Lee, but it's always relied on the Everquest name and word of mouth for marketing like some publisher working out of a garage.
