I had mixed feelings on that since under the current system all you're going to get is those spots owned by dps. Any change that frees up those slots also requires a reevaluation of "utility" and "dps" classes and their relations to those roles.

Re: Aeralik Gone
How can you have mixed feelings? 4 classes take up 33% of the raid. Yes, they would get taken by dps/support, but that is a pool of 8 classes instead of 4.

No, they'd get taken by dps which is just 4 classes. Instead of 4 bards/ 4 chanters you'd end up with even more preds and sorcs taking up those slots and the players of those utilities getting fucked since all they bring is their utility. You can't trade one poorly thought out scheme for another and call it progress.

Re: Aeralik Gone
wizzard, warlock, assassin, ranger, necro, conj, swash, brig = 8 classes. 4 are Tier 2 DPS, but it would be better progress for the raid to have 2 extra T1 dps and 2 extra T2 dps instead of 4 T3 dps. So yes, that is progress.

Every raid that counts for this discussion already has all the support classes they want, all that's left with current game design is dps.At absolute best assuming they make summoner changes worthwhile and creating roles for both, you're only getting 6. It'll still be poorly thought out and laughable progress at best.

Re: Aeralik Gone
If you nerf the stacking of one class, you need to nerf the stacking of all classes. Not worth it to bring a second Dirge? It should be equally without value to bring a second Assassin. Is that where we're headed?
I don't know. None of us do. Yet.

Alternatively, if you're going to reduce the ability of a class to compete in one respect, you need to increase the ability to compete in another. If only one dirge is viable for the utility, why can't others it compete on dps? As the current stat quo that we've at least understood--if not accepted-- is being upset, then they should reevaluate the whole setup instead of half-assing it.

Re: Aeralik Gone
Sure, absolutely, I agree with that. If our hypothetical "second dirge" is unable to provide utility, he should be able to provide "something else" to the raid. In this case, DPS would be appropriate.
I will certainly be looking forward to seeing how it plays out in SF.
