5g isnt much for mailing back and forth and doesnt screw the player base, it would screw the plat farmers who send hundreds or thousands of mails, seriously if ur hurtting for 5g thats pretty bad

Oops, I clicked the second one not fully reading, I meant for #3 haha
I thought #1 was Sony restricted level blocking while #2 was user restricted.
But seriously, something needs to be done ... my main isn't getting as much junk lately (6 tells, 3 mails in 2h) but my secondary toon is getting atleast six tells per hour, from like three companies.

edit: it could also cut out the lower level begging .. I've seen few, but I know it was crazy in EQ1 .. most of the begging I've seen here is level ~10 players at the broker.

The solutions you offered are clumsy are poorly thought out.

No player should have to take it upon himself to block the spam, and spam should not be so commonplace that a player should ask other players how to prevent such action, where I assume he would be pointed to these parameters.

A play experience should be offered as-is, and with that said, blocking plat tells must stop before they start.

I think increasing mail cost is a decent, but not perfect, solution.

I think for tells, a player below level 10 should only be allowed to send a certain number of tells a minute to players in different zones.

Maybe even higher levels. Kindof like how when you spam in AIM you get a meter that goes from green to yellow to red, and then you are muted for a period of time.

I seriously hate the idea of players having to solve the problem on their own. I understand its an attempt for a player to gain control when SOE shows clear apathy to the situation, but the last thing a player should worry about between buying swords and completing quests, is which option they need to bring up and switch so they stop receiving spam. Plat spam is innately unimmersive, and no solution should require the same reality-check approach that it brings to the average player.

The problem is not with us, and we shouldn't be the ones in charge of a solution after-the-fact. SOE needs to start getting creative, and stop the problem before it reaches the player. With your solution, a player would still be receiving the barrage of plat spam before they find the option to turn it off. As far as I'm concerned, to the player willing to support RMTs, one tell is as good as a thousand.

Well aren't we grumpy today. Go take 5 minutes and beat one out.

Most players are already used to governing their own communication; it's called the /ignore feature. This circumstance just requires a more powerful tool.

Tell macros are used for battle messages, like when someone important needs hearts/shards, or cures. /tell throttling would infringe on that.

This poll offers the restrictions as toggle-able options; there are benevolent players who actually freely associate with n00bs and might not want to cut them off. Me personally, I'd probably set level 15 as the threshold; if you're below that, your character is probably not permanent enough to warrant a slot on my friends list.

snark i think the difference between us having to fix most problems in this case is that there's not really any specific way for them to stop certain players from sending certain tells, whereas us policing what we take in would solve the problem with the people it bothers. i really don't care about tells, i'd block mail from anyone under level 5 if i could.

raising the price of mail would not be a popular thing, but it would be a nice way to take money out of the economy since there isn't much else doing it.
