Would you? EQ2Flames Dunk-a-Dev at Fanfaire

This is called "floating a balloon". I don't know if SoE would be interested or even allow this, but I thought it might be a fun idea that could increase attendance and fun at Fanfaire.

So, this is an IDEA only - it is not a done deal. If sufficient interest was generated in this idea, I'd approach SoE with it and try and shame some devs into participating!

First Annual Dunk-a-Dev for Charity!

As a leading source of irreverent fun and off color humor for the EQ2 community, EQ2Flames would like to sponsor a "Dunk-a-Dev" at Fanfaire. If our community agrees this would be a fun idea, and if the EQ2 team and SoE would agree to participate, I'd be happy to try and arrange for a dunking booth in association with the upcoming FanFaire in August, 2007.

Here's how it would work:

-I'd finance and arrange to rent an old-school style "dunking booth", you remember, the type you've seen at high school carnivals and county fairs. Since its Vegas, there will be no problem finding a service that does this.

-The booth will be manned by "victims", hopefully EQ2 devs and staff, who would take turns getting dunked by FanFaire attendees that purchase tickets for this purpose. SoE need not worry, the "dunkees" would be protected from fastball throwing fans by chain link.

-Ticket prices would need to be determined, but all proceeds (every dollar earned after my rental fee is covered) would be donated to the charity designated by Smed, Brenlo or Grim, whoever at SoE would be brave enough to give the thumbs up and approve this venture.

-I'll handle the gate on this myself, or if it is preferred, a SoE person can collect the funds and disburse the tickets.

Will these chain links be all around them making it impossible to hit them? Or could we lob it over maybe?

We'd have to protect against side and top assaults also.

However, if they would agree, perhaps we could do a "sponge throw" at the same time, with round soaked sponges thrown at devs wearing shirts with a target on them.

I hope SoE will consider this, I'll guarantee it will come off without harm to anyone, and in the spirit of fun.

This would be fully beta'd beforehand, no exploits would be possible or feasible!

I'd prolly agree to give Ishbu a round trip ticket to Vegas (I have hundreds of thousands of unused airline points) if he would agree to come and sit in the booth. Please let me know if interested.

This is a great idea, I plan on going to fan faire with a few guildmates and this would be the highlight of the event if you could talk the devs into it

I can't help but wonder if other "notorious" people, like Coyote and perhaps even Kendricke, would agree to participate in this good cause. It seems to me like this could turn a lot of present animosity, gamewide, in a positive direction.
